Carry on

Hi,

My hubby and ONLY use carry-on for our travels. We've traveled all over the world and absolutely detest checking luggage. We each have 21 inch disney suitcases. Our children, 9, 10 & 11, also travel with carry-on luggage. Whatever we pack, we wear an outfit from our suitcase on the first day of travel. We also roll our clothes to create space and minimize wrinkles.

Hers:
4 shirts
1 black skirt
1 black Capri
1 black or white wide beach pant
1 black maxi dress/ or knee-length
1 cardigan
Swimsuit
Cover-up
Night gown
2 bras/5 panties
Ballet flats
Flip-flops
Wedges
1 diamond stud
Watch
Wedding rings
Cosmetics: mascara, eyeliner, lip liner, lipstick, lip balm, concealer, foundation, Perfume, deodorant, toothbrush & paste
Comb/brush, flat iron curling iron

His:
5 shirts
3 shorts
1 casual slack
1 jean
1 tie/ bow tie
1 swim trunks
Rash guard
5 undies
1 sleeping short
1 Fisherman sandals/leather
1 Flip-flops
1 Converse
Cosmetics: deodorant, razor, 3oz shaving cream, hair paste, toothbrush, cologne

I know this is a bit detailed BUT,... ive I've done quite a bit of research on the matter and this list has not failed me yet. Once we arrive at our destination, I can it to a local supermarket and purchase 4 bottles of wine, olive oil (for my face), snacks and chocolate for the cruise.
Hope this helps

We have been traveling with carry-ons only for over 10 years (and did it before, too, but took a break during the diapers/kids' toys years). I hate checking in luggage and then waiting hopefully for it to get to the right airport. It's absolutely possible to cruise DCL with only one carry-on per person. Alaska was tough (much tougher than a one-month trip abroad) because of the warmer clothing we needed, but a FL cruise is easy. We have 20" expandable bags from Briggs & Riley and they are fantastic. We use Eagle creek folders in addition to a few cubes. And as for shoes, I choose one nice pair for dinners and then make sure that all my "evening wear" goes with that pair. And, of course, our liquids are minimal and in tiny little bottles.

I have done multiple trips/cruises with just a carry-on. The longest I have gone with just a carry-on was a month (1-week prior to the cruise, 2-week Disney transatlantic cruise, 1-week after cruise). One of my favorite packing items are compression packing cubes. The packing cubes keep me organized (I use various color cubes for different clothes) and provide a place for dirty clothing. When it comes to packing clothes I prefer lightweight clothing made from moisture wicking material to reduce wrinkles. I also like to pack a few items that can pull double duty (a couple of pants with zip-off legs for shorts). I also have a travel blazer (which can fold down do a small cube). The item that seems to take up the most room in my carry-on are shoes (1-pair of dress, 1-pair of tennis shoe, 1-pair of sandals) and I usually wear the heaver shoe when traveling. Yeah, I do have to do laundry on the ship twice (once when I first board and once before I leave) to make sure I have clean clothing. I really enjoy and prefer to travel this way.
