Getting into the nitty gritty of the packing now.
I understand we're each allowed 2 suitcases (to be checked) & 1 carry-on & 1 personal item like briefcase/purse.
If necessary, can the kids each have their own knapsack/backpack as their personal item along with a wheeled carry-on?
TIA

Yes, the kids are included in the count. We have actually taken a little over that, I put purse & camera bag into a carry on to consolodate things. They haven't been really strict like the airlines about the number of carryons since you have possession of them the entire time until you reach your stateroom. Of course, the fewer carryons, the easier it will be for you to get around the ship. We have the stroller so most of our things are stowed in/on that.

Yea...we have ended up taking ALOT more than the stated limits. They have additional luggage tags at the curb...and neither cruise has it been a problem to check more than the two bags per person. Plus we've ended up carring alot more on than just ONE carry-on and personal item per person. There was no way I was about to check my camera bag or the lap top...so in the end it just added up.

As with most airlines it's 1 carryon (overhead ) and personal item (underseat) and thats for every person Thats what the CL's base this off of.

It's more for our convenience & organization that we want each kid (some are teens) to have own backpack. Backpack would fit under seat in a plane so I guess it's OK as a "personal".

While I don't wish to be dragging a bunch of luggage around the ship until we get a room, I had the same issue as scrapperjill with the family electronics that I don't wish to check. That's a relief. We're driving & in WDW for a week prior & camping for some so packing & limiting it is getting tricky. 4 DDs, some are teens -- the footwear alone is silly :earseek:

Yes, the kids can each have a backpack and a rolling bag. It will be a little tough to find a place to stash it all if you have lunch before going to your stateroom. If you board a little later and can get into your room right away, it shouldn't be too bad to get the gear to your room and then get to the pools or find food.

Tell the teens to pack 2 pairs of cute summery shoes and a pair of sneakers, and that should be fine. I wished I had more sandals and less shoes when I was on our trip. I'd also pack more bathing suits (because they can take a while to dry between uses) and less clothing.

Also, even though you feel like you need to bring everything with you, there is a limit to the amount of storage in the stateroom. All of the empty luggage needs to go somewhere, and you probably won't want it taking up floor or closet space. You might want to do a trial run at home to see which things will nest inside the larger luggage when empty, and make sure that the largest luggage will fit under the bed (just over 9" clearance, if I remember correctly).

Remember, this is supposed to be fun! :flower:
