Carry on deoderant

I was just going over my packing list to remove any liquids and chapstick and wondered about deoderant solids and gels. Seems to me these will not be allowed either but no one has said anything about them. Just a thought.

On the news they were showing bins of discarded items and there were lots of stick deodorants in there. I would say check it.

Watching NBC news this morning they were showing a TSA going up and down the lines of passengers waiting to go through security telling people " if you put it on your body you have to check it ", i.e. make-up, deoderant, chapstick, perfume.... I'm planning on placing everything in my cheched bags except for a fe changes of clothes for each of us.

Does anyone know when they say no medicines surely they won't make you throw out pills would they? I mean they are not liquid. Cuz I get motion sickness and have to carry dramine pills with me as well as aspirin as I suffer from migraines. Do you think these things will be confiscated as well cuz I NEED them on the plane and can't check them but they are not "prescription".

I would think if you contacted your DR. he could write a letter explaning why they must be with you. If not then you will probably have to check them. Im not sure about that but it seems right.

Okay I know this is a pain in the backside, but... I read on our local airport website that you can in many states have the pharmacist write a prescription for OTC medication and label it properly. If it is not allowed in your state you can have a doctor call in a prescription for an OTC. I have read that the restrictions pertain to liquid meds like insulin so pills shouldn't be a problem, but I'd check just in case. Either way if you absolutely need an OTC medicine on a plane then you can get it labeled appropriately.

Pills are not a liquid....therfore they can go on the plane without difficulty!

Well, someone had tossed their tin of Altoids when they showed footage yesterday of the trash bins at security, so I don't know about aspirin and other pill form medication. Maybe the Altoid tin was just any empty one...

Call your airport ahead of time and ask them - at least place a few pills in a plastic sandwich bag in case they make you toss the containers. Pack the rest in your checked baggage.

My goodness, what are all of us ladies going to do without our lipstick in our purses to look our most ravishing during a layover, just coming off of a flight, whatever............don't tell me that I'm the only woman who likes to look nice just off of a few hour long flight, especially if I'm meeting someone special.

I actually saw news footage of a TSA agent saying "Men, tell your wives they still look beautiful beacuse they will have to throw their make-up out!"

As for carry-ons - it only says liquids. You are very lucky, I ger migraines too but mine require prescription migraine meds. I would check directly with the carrier (like everyone has said though - pills seem to be fine). If you should ever come to that, I would ask the dr. to write a perscription for the non-perscription meds. I've wondered about my inhaler (asthma) since the perscription is on the box which I throw away - I wonder if I should pick up a refill so I have that label?
They have made people throw out chap-stick. I love my make-up and carry it on for fear of it being lost but I figure, safety is worth any inconvenience. But, if it sticks around, I will be picking up my bags before getting on the magical express so I can "freshen up".

I don't know if that's the case for OTC medications in Texas. I went to some pharmacies this morning (too much time on my hands, I know) to find out if they write prescriptions or label OTC medications to bring it on airplanes. All the pharmacies made it clear that the only things that get their labels are the drugs with doctor-written prescriptions!
Without toothpaste, deodorant, etc., what if you have to change planes (for us, that's the only way to get to WDW-change planes) and you run into problems and end up stuck overnight. Those airport hotel gift shops charge a lot for a little deodorant-they must think it's gold! I speak from experience.

Depends on where you are. I had to toss mine out at Newark. It's not consistent yet.

Not to change the subject, but I wear contacts and was wondering if they will throw out my contact lens case. I carry with a few drops of saline solution in case I get something in my eye, and would need to take out my lens. I guess since those couple of drops are liquid, Ill have to pack in in my regular suitcase and carry a dry lens case with me. My lens would be ruined with nothing to put it in. I could wear glasses, but I'm too vain. I know you can't carry bottles of the solution, but this is just a few drops in my case. Of course, it's better to be safe. We leave next week.
