My wife wants to pass the time in our flights crocheting (sp?) and I want to take my butane cigar lighter in our checked baggage. Any rules against these things?

Thanks,

Knitting needles are OK in both checked and carry on luggage, so croquet needles shouldn't be a problem, either.

Common lighters are OK in carry on.

TSA brochure says this about Lighters in checked luggage:

** Lighters without fuel are permitted in checked baggage. Lighters with fuel are prohibited in checked baggage, unless they adhere to the Department of Transportation (DOT) exemption, which allows up to two fueled lighters if properly enclosed in a DOT approved case. If you are uncertain as to whether your lighter is prohibited, please leave it at home.

Here is a link to the TSA brochure:

Thanks, guys, I'll just pick up a Bic at Publix.

DS mentioned that they were rolling a new cigar at Sosa's, you might want to check it out. (And he might have just menat "new" to him. :confused3 )

Thanks for the heads-up. I planned on hitting their cigar-bar in PI while wifey shopped one evening, now I'll just meet up at Sosa's retail shop.
