Since I am paranoid about the airlines losing my bags I usually bring some carry on luggage. Since my flight arrives at 10:15am I'm sure my room won't be ready when I check in. My question is, do you put the ME tags on your carry-on luggage too? This way if want want to hit the pool or parks bell services can match it up easier with your checked luggage when it arrives at the hotel?

No.

DME tags are only useful for checked luggage handled behind the scenes at the Orlando airport. They would be completely meaningless on carry-on bags.

In other news, you may be surprised and you may get into your room when you arrive at your resort. One of the little-known but quite real perks of DME is that when you check in at the DME counter at MCO, the computer sends a message to your resort that you will be arriving soon, and if there is a room available it gets set aside for you. That means if there is only one room available and clean at that early time, that room is held for you. So even if two minutes after you check in at the DME desk at MCO thee is a non-DME guest who attempts to check in at the resort, they will be told there are no rooms available just yet, but when you saunter in 45 minutes later you will get that room because it was already set aside for you.

Bell Services at any halfway decent hotel in the USA can handle storing your carry-ons while you go out and play (if your room's not ready yet). Don't worry about BS trying to "match it up" with your DME luggage, you will get everything they have for you.

Keeping some important items in a carry-on is a smart thing anytime, but it's especially true with DME. We packed all sorts of things, including bathing suits and what our kids call "beach shoes" (we live at the beach) in our carry-ons. We were at CBR's Trinindad North pool when our DME luggage "magically appeared" in our room. We were free to do whatever we wanted because we packed in our carry-ons everything we needed for the first 24 hours, and it's surprising how little space that takes up when you're traveling to a warm climate -- you couldn't get away with it traveling to Cleveland in January. And by the way, Cleveland in January is the best because there are no lines at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame and Museum!
