We have a kelty backpack…but we also have a great lightweight stroller-that reclines with shade…
Not sure if we will be able to bring the kelty…in suitcase? both the kelty and stroller on the plane? (I feel like we are over packing)

If not kelty…what type of carrier would work best for this kiddo? He's only 26.5lbs.

TIA

I would think a carrier like a back pack would kind of be a pain in Disney b/c it doesn't fold up smaller, you know? We use our ergo w/ our 28 month old and she's 33lbs. We used it daily w/ her on a 2 week trip to Ireland/London at 22 months, she probably weighed 30lbs then.

The benefit to an ergo, boba or beco is that they are soft-structured and can fold up and be stowed under the stroller, in a bag, etc.

I see ergs at TJMaxx and the like all the time for $70ish. They also come up on zulily and the like.

I would definitely look into a soft-structured carrier like the beco or ergo. Depending on your child's height/weight you might be better off looking at a Kinderpack. They specifically make toddler-sized carriers and are soft-structured just like the beco and ergo.

I love the stroller. It is important to have shade(full coverage. Once burnt one of my kids knees). It needs extra carrying space. As I find the whole family dumps their stuff in it. I take a rain cover or extra rain coat for it. Cover every parking. Horrible to park it and come out of the ride and find everything soaked. I find it typically rains around 1pm in florida. Drink holder to put my disney mug. I also include a small cooler hung off the handle ( used to be my baby bottle cooler so it goes with stroller). A water resistant bag with all our cool disney stuff in ( sunscreen, hats, glo w show ears, autograph books and lanyards , bubbles rain coat ect. I pack this stuff in individual ziplocs). We go to the park for the full day.

I have the opposite problem now as kids are too big to take stroller and I end up now carrying everyone's stuff. I need to find a bag that works as well as my stroller system.

Kinderpacks are wonderful for kids too big for an Ergo. You want whatever soft-structured carrier you are using to be wide enough to support your child from knee to knee with the butt slightly lower than the knees (seated in carrier, not suspended by the crotch).
I took an hour's walk with my 37 lb, 41" almost-4 yo son in the biggest size KP this week! (And in it he took his first nap in weeks - a Christmas miracle.)

For a 2 year old I would not recommend a regular infant carrier (Beco, Ergo, Boba.) You both would be more comfortable with a carrier made for toddlers. The toddler Tula is awesome! I also like the toddler Action Baby Carrier and Kinderpack.

We use an ergo at home but in the parks he was in and out so much that after the first day we switched to our MacLaren stroller. Also FL gets hot and muggy and the carrier got too hot for both of us.

If you are looking at using the carrier mostly for shorter lengths of time (under an hour in general) I highly recommend the Connecta. It's a British carrier, not terribly common in North America, but highly underrated. It's very light weight, with no waist padding (so it not the most supportive), but it folds up tiny, so it's amazing for traveling with. They have a toddler version that I can use with my 23lb, 33" 15 month old, but it's still plenty big enough for my 34lb, 40" almost 4 year old. For a carrier that you are using most of the day, I'd suggest something more supportive. My personal favourite is a Babies in Space SSC, but you can only buy them used in North America. Manduca, Kinderpack, Tula, are all good carriers for bigger kids. If you don't already have an Ergo or Beco I would stay away from them. They are the smallest of the ergonomic carriers, with shorter backs and narrower bases - good for small babies not not as good for bigger kids. I find the Ergo already too short for my preference for my 15 month old, since it only comes up to his armpits, and he can lean quite a bit in it.

Re: the heat, we found that frogg toggs helped tremendously, both in Dd's beco and the stroller. You wet them, wring them out and they stay cold for quite a long time without making you or baby wet. When they get warm, just re-wet, wring out and it is good to go again.
