IF YOU COULD GO ANYWHERE IN THE CARRIBEAN OR BAHAMAS WHERE WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

We have never traveled to either area. At time of travel we will have a 67, 13, 12 and 8 year old with us. We would like something for everyone and a place everyone will enjoy. Would rather spend more time siteseeing then in the water.

What would you recommend?:scratchin

We go to the Caribbean for the water, and my pick would be St. John Virgin Island.

As far as history, things to see, we've been happy in Puerto Rico. The rainforest is a great destination , there history, which I like, a rum factory, and the best of all, a few phosphorescent bays...very unique to see, perhaps threatened, but definitely the sight of a lifetime! You go kayaking at night in water that's purple light, just amazing. DH and DS's played golf at the best public golf course they've ever played at.

My husband and I are both scuba divers and spend lots of time in the Caribbean.

St John is nice. But expensive and little to do.

Jamaica scares me. :scared1:

Nassau ....ahhh it's just OK and expensive.

Grand Cayman is beautiful, but expensive.

I'd vote for Curacao. The DVC trade is at a great resort. The Royal Sea Aquarium It's connected to the Aquarium. There are dolphin shows, interactive encounters, etc. It's a beautiful country AND RSA is very highly rated.

Getting there can be tricky, but I know Delta now has a flight. I'm hoping to do this same trade for myself with my family next year.

In all honesty, I wouldn't take a free trip there.

It's dangerous, you can't leave your resort and you have to cover your childrens eyes half the time ( I'm not sure what they've got going on with the near porn statues they sell EVERYWHERE, but they're frankly disgusting )

I like to go places where I can explore the island- in Jamaica you can stay on your resort and you can stay on your resort...

The last time I was in Jamaica, against my better judgement, I went to Dunns River Falls with my family. Walking ( literally ) across the street to get back to the cruise terminal, two women swooped down and grabbed my daughter, wanting to braid her hair. I said no, they continued to pick through her hair and didn't want to let go. They wanted to haggle. I told them in no certain terms I was at the end of my politeness and if they didn't let go of my daughter someone would have a problem. There was no being nice in the situation ( BTW, I'm 5'11 and can be a bit imposing when I'm angry :lmao: ) While I was fighting the braiders, someone else was trying to sell my DH drugs.

Just not my idea of a "dream vacation"

BTW, it's a shame too, because the island could be beautiful.

Assuming the resort plays a role and trading II, I'd say Aruba, Cancun esp for the Royals (yes II has it in the Caribbean) and Atlantis would be the top choices. I'd put St. John, St. Kitt's, and Cayman's down the list due to the ages of those involved.
