DD18 and I are trying to decide where we should stay. It's a toss up between the CBR and POR. For those of you who have been at BOTH, which would you suggest. (I'll probably be getting a Preferred room location if that plays a part in your suggestion.) I'd love to hear any comments you have as well.

Thank you!

I have stayed at both.

With younger children, I would say CBR. The zero entry pool, the theming, etc. suits itself to young children.

With an adult child, I would definately suggest POR. The food court is fabulous, the grounds are beautiful and nice to walk at night, Yee-hah Bob in the lounge is wonderful entertainment, and the water taxi to DTD cannot be beat.

I took my mom with me in 2004, and she still talks about POR to this day. We would take the water taxi to DTD every night; even if we just slipped into Ghiradelli's to have a snack and come right back.

We've stayed at both (2x at CBR and 6x at POR). I like POR better. I think the bus service and the food court is better at POR. My DD is 16 and she chooses POR over CBR, too.

I'm a little surprised by the results so far. Please keep on voting. I'd love to hear from more of you as to why you're voting as you do.

Thanks for your input.

We have stayed at both recently and prefer POR. I was excited to stay at CBR last year and it was beautiful. The busses and foodcourt were sooo much better at POR. I also felt that POR was more peaceful and relaxing. I love Piano Bob in the POR lounge. The pools were far less crowded at POR (although I loved the slide at CBR) I liked being able to walk to my room with my carryons after check in at POR. At CBR, even the preffered buildings are far away from the check in building and luggage cant be taken on the internal shuttle. So even with magical express, youll need to give your carry ons to bell services, then take the internal shuttle. Going home, you'll need to arrange bell services and then catch the internal shuttle just to get to the main building to check your bags and catch the magical express back. just a nuisance. My opinion POR, also love the boat to DTD, but both are nice resorts.

My mom and I have stayed at the CBR for our last three trips. We love it. It is vibrant. Colorful. Very 'island-ie'. The music definitely makes you think your somewhere tropical. BUT having said that, if you are placed in a room in the South Trinidad building.....be prepared to walk. It's a long walk into the main building. The up side of CBR, not only did they have a great main pool, but each 'island' had their own private pool as well. So if you didn't want to go to the main large pool (where ALL the younger kids were) you could stay at the quiter pool. The food court was loud, the food average. You got your normal food court breakfast. The lines seemed to go quick. My only complaint, not enough places to sit during that morning rush. They have a great gift shop. The stuff is tropical themed. Lots of snacks. I enjoyed it. I did lots of gift shopping there:) We found the transportation to be great. Always lots of buses running. Never had to wait to long for one.

My mom and I are planning a trip for Christmas. We are actually staying at POR for a change. She wants something different:) So all the positive reviews for that resort are great for us:) We hope we aren't disappointed:P

BUT, CBR is nice. We have always enjoyed it. You may have a tough decision:P I know I can't give you a comparision of the two, BUT I hope I have given a bit of what it's like at CBR:):)

Enjoy your trip planning and the upcoming trip!!!

We have been to both and I agree with a previous poster - if you had younger kids, then definitely I would go with CBR but with a teenage daughter I would say POR. They have a great food court, really beautiful grounds and the boat ride to DD is a great added benefit. POR felt more grown-up to us and it also has a beautiful pool. Once we had been to CBR, our kids (boys 11 & 6) said they loved both but preferred CBR (but we had a pirate room so that was defnitely a deciding factor!) and they thought that POR was too lovey-dovey :rotfl: I love the way kids think!!

So far, I think I'm convinced that we should stay at POR...unless the tide turns. ;)

Another POR vote! There is so much to do, and with easy access to DTD is easy to frequent at night.

Not to mention that POR is my favorite. I do like CBR but, IMHO POR wins.

I've stayed at all four moderates more than once and much prefer PORS over CBR. Truthfully, I'd go for CSR in your situation, but since that wasn't one of your options I voted for PORS. It's quiet, peaceful, the pool is not as crowded, you have the boat to DTD which opens up your dining options, bus service is better, food court is much better, and gift shop is nicer.

Again I go to WDW several times a year and have pretty much settled on the moderates as my resorts of choice. I'd rank them: #1. CSR #2. POFQ, #3. PORS, and a very distant #4. CBR.

with an 18 year old, definitely POR. going to be repetitive here, but you have the boat to DTD! (just don't give DD18 charging priviledges on your room key!!!:rotfl2:)

POR also has quiet pools. where a teen can bask in the sun away from all the little kids. and there is YeeHa BOB. and you can take the boat to POFQ to use their food court (beignets!) and listen to the music as Scat Cat club. (the band plays just outside the bar area, so and 18 year old can enjoy, too)
and the hot tub at POFQ is set aside form the main pool. you 2 could ride the boat down to FQ, eat at their food court, and enjoy the quieter hot tub

I would choose CBR!!! We love the swimming pool theming and the marketplace in the common area.....there are many small booth/shops and it just adds to the entire atmosphere.... The colors in this resorts ar e very lively and makes it very relaxing with the beach backdrop!

We stayed at both. We were at the CBR for Thanksgiving. I loved both and both are big but I felt a little over whelmed with CBR. I kept getting confused when walking back from the pool and going to the wrong buildings. We knew where we had to go but when we got there, finding the actual room took a few minutes..LOL..I guess our brains were just in vacation mode. We stayed in one of the Pirate rooms(my kids are 7 & 9) I did not feel like the walk to the main pool and food court were that bad. The kids never complained about it and if we wanted to take the bus to the food court, we would of had to taken a trip around the whole resort, so it was quicker to walk.
It was a quick bus ride to DTD and I didn't realize how close Hollywood Studios was to the hotel. With your DD being 18, I would say POR. When we were there we stayed in the mansions and it was a quick (I thought) walk to POFQ, where you can use their pool and eat at that food court..I LOVED the taco salad they had at the POFQ. There are more options to eat (food court wise)

I've stayed at both. CBR has been my fav until I stayed at POR. POR is my favorite. I dream about that place!!! LOL!!

I'm surprised at the results so far.

CBR wins our vote because we love the pool, the food court, the shopping, the cleanliness, & the overall island theme with the soft calypso music.

The workers at CBR seem to go out of their way to smile, say hi to you, and make you feel comfortable. It's a happy place. :goodvibes

We just didn't get that "warm fuzzy feeling" at POR.
