Carriage Ride and Holiday Decorations

I figured I'd ask this question to the Fort Wilderness experts. My boyfriend and I will be at WDW first week of December and I thought a fun thing to do would be to take a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness. Neither of us have ever visited the resort before and I've been reading that a lot of the camp sites are decorated for the holidays.

I figured we would take the earliest time (6pm I think). I think it would be dark at this point already so I'm not sure how much there will be to see on the journey. I have also read that as of last year the sites aren't decorated as much as they used to be.

Do you guys think it would be worth the $45 given that most of the journey would be in the dark? Are the site decorations still worth seeing?

Any other not to be missed evening activities at FW for adults (no kids)? We will probably pay a visit to the lounge for a drink. :woohoo:

Thanks!

We were there December 6-10 last year and there were a lot of sites decorated, some of them were huge displays. It was fun to see! One of our favorite things to do is grab a drink and sit in the rocking chairs outside the tavern, you will have a great time!

Queenie,

I would encourage you also to do it.

Disney instituted some stricter rules a few years ago on decorating. Folks were getting carried away and tampering with the electrical panels rather than sticking to the power available at their own sites. But there are still plenty of decorations out and a night carriage ride is probably the best way to see them all lit up.

The fireworks from the MK can be seen from the Fort beach area and the music is piped in. Folks gather down there every night to watch them. Also the Electrical Water Parade comes by and does a show every evening viewable from the beach (the same show floats over to the Contemp, Grand Florid, Poly, and Wilderness Lodge to do shows there so it's the same show at each location each night.

Crockett's Tavern can be your retreat in between. Have fun!

Thanks for the info!

I assume this is true for the MVMCP fireworks too? Do they have any seating on the beach?

The prices have gone up. The "sleigh rides" are now $70.00.

They still have the carriage and wagon rides too though in addition to the sleigh rides right, or do the sleighs replace the carriages during the holiday season?

Yes, there is limited seating. You can always BYOC ( bring your own chair)

I'm pretty sure it is replaced. Maybe someone can correct or second that.

I'm so glad I found this thread as I was considering booking a "sleigh" ride for our upcoming trip.
