Carowinds Park in NC?

Used to live in Monroe, NC, know Carowinds very well.

Like pp have said, it is an ok park. Not the best, not the wrost. The kids will love it though. It has roller coasters..that's enough to get kids excited! It would make a good day trip, but bring your own cooler with food. The prices are WAY too expensive! The admission is way too expensive too! They are plum crazy. The water park is nice though and you don't need a seperate admission price to get in and enjoy it like you do at Six Flags.

Watch out for the Vortex, very jerky.
Thunder Road will give you a spinal adjusment too but it's fun
The Hurler will bring you out of your seat
The Goldrusher is fun and even a small child can ride it (it's my favorite ride ;))
The Cyclone (with the double loops) will knock your head around, be prepared to leave with a bit of a headache off of that one :thumbsup2

There are more coasters. Some I haven't rode because of line length and wait times (ie:Nighthawk and some newer one they just added)

Oh headsup, Afterburn (formerly Top Gun), don't let the line fool you. It may be long, but it goes FAST! :thumbsup2

Have fun. Sounds like a nice road trip with the family.

I live within 15 minutes of Carrowinds...I agree with above...it is okay but expensive.

I would try Great Wolf Lodge and Concord Mills if I was in your shoes. The outlet mall has go carts, mini golf etc. Not to mention the Lodge has the water park. If you time it right and come through during a weekday the prices aren't bad...weekends is another story.

I have friends who love carrowinds so I am not sure it I under value it because I live so close but I just feel like it is too expensive for what you get.

We live about an hr away from Carowinds and have had annual passes for several years now. We enjoy it because not only do they have some great rollercoaster (especially the new Intimidator) but the large water park is included in the regular admission. You can definitely spend a full day there. Have fun!

We live an hour from carowinds and about 15 minutes from Lazy 5.

We liked carowinds BEFORE our first WDW trip. Don't compair the two and you can have fun. Agree with most others. One note is that height restrictions are higher in general than WDW so you child may be able to do less. Food is unreal priced and not very good.

Lazy-5 is a fun couple hours. You need to have reservations for a wagon ride. You can drive your car though anytime. There is web-site and # to call if you want to do the wagon. It is a little expensive without doing as a group rate. That is what most local people do and have a wagon full. They do allow picnics, no food is sold there. They have a shady playground.

Also in our area ( Salisbury NC ) is Dan Nicholas Park. A wondeful public park with a small zoo, a couple kids rides, put put, paddle boats, a slash pad, a minning gem etc. Very low priced. Google this as well.

Any more questions about NC, feel free to ask.

This is in Mooresville, NC - a little ways off of I-77 North.

Well, we got off I-85 at Salisbury, tuned onto Mooresville Rd and went about 15 miles that way. So you CAN get there from I-85 easily as well.
