Hi: I have a friend that wants to try the cop but wants to be assured that she can get out if she has to whenever she wants, or she will not try the attraction.

Once you are in the carousel of progress, and it has begun can a person leave by just opening the back door if they had an emergency, or are the doors locked while the show is going on. I understand you could not get off when it is switching shows but when a new show starts could the doors be opened.
I know the last time I was on it the cm shut the door and went outside for the 20 min. so I wondered if someone needed to get out how they would go about it.

Thanks,

Deb.

I don't remember seeing people leave, but I'm sure in an emergency situation they would let her off. It's a great show, and it'll fly by,she won't want to leave! ;)

Not to mention comfy seats after a long day of walking around and its air conditioned which in the summer is a plus.... even if you dislike the show those to me are good reasons to tough it out... (btw i love this show not just because of the seats and a/c :sunny: )

It would be illegal to lock guests in with no way to exit.

Why the requirement? Is this some kind of phobia or does she think she'll hate the show that much that she couldn't sit through it?

Hi:

Unfortunately it is a panic attack type of ailment. She never knows when it is going to happen and does not like the idea of having no control of when she can leave if she needs to. She has seen the show years ago, and loved it but now has these new problems.

Poor lady...and I can understand her concern. I don't have that type of phobia at all BUT we rode COP last week and I have to say, it DID feel a bit uh...don't know how to explain it....maybe claustrophobia inducing?
If she really wants to try the ride she should talk to a sympathetic CM at the ride and see what they can do for her.

I hope she does fine!

What is the Carousel of Progress? Everyone keeps talking about this ride but I've heard it is only open in the peak seasons. We leave soon and would love the kids to ride this. Ages 8, 5, 3 1/2. Thanks

I have seen people get up and leave during the show.

(for the benefit of those who do not know what CoP is) But, as its name suggests, it (the audience seating area) goes 'round and 'round stopping at each pie slice shaped stage in the center core with a show and animatronic figures. The stages remain stationary, and all the seats face the center at all times and do not go up and down. If the exit door were to be opened while the carousel was in motion I am sure things would stop, but not instantaneously. There is a platform outside all around the perimeter (that also stays stationary) where people exiting would end up.
