We are planning a carnival themed party for Ds's 7th bday. I have several carnival themed games for the boys to win tickets and claim prizes. One little guy asked his mom if we were going to have a ferris wheel...hee, hee:rotfl:, but then it got me thinking:rolleyes:, is there away to "act out " some carnival type rides? I am thinking about tying or sticking balloons to their bums for bumper cars. Maybe 1/2 get a balloon and the others have to try to pop, then they get one while the other has to pop. Sorta like when you have to bounce on them to get a prize out, just you bounce into someone elses bum.
I am going to have a "strong man" contest, have to pick up a heavy barbell, of course it will be made of foam, but the "acting out" part of picking it up wins you tickets.;)
Any other ideas...

Im too tired to think of creative ideas at the moment..but I wanted to suggest something (although it wont really be similar to bumper cars). I've played a fun game at parties where you tie a balloon to your shoe lace and everyone has to run around and try to stomp on your balloon. Everyone gets a balloon, everyone gets to stop. No fighting over who gets one. Last person with a balloon wins. A little tip, the small waterballoons seem to pop more easily. We used regular water balloons and the kids were standing ont he balloons and they wouldnt pop!

You could set up an obstical course of sorts, include things like a balance beam (2x4 on some concrete blocks), use tunnels or hula hoops for them to climb through or do the army walk through, run around a tree, maybe solve a quick puzzle (or put letters in order to spell happy birthday), etc... have some physical stuff and then something that the slower kids could make up time on. We've also used a ticket or prize system with balloons by sticking paper in them and then the kids have to sit on the balloon to pop it to claim their prize... this can be done independently (ie dump a ton of balloons filled with tickets/paper out and they can only get another balloon once they popped the 1st one) or you could incorporate this into the obstical course.

Some ideas...

Pretend "merry go round" using a parachute. All the kids take hold of a parachute handle/side and walk in a circle while one child is sitting in the middle for a ride. The kids holding the sides can also "wave" their sides to create a windstorm in the middle. Take turns.

Relay races-- have the kids do silly relays like balance an egg/cotton ball on a spoon, walk/run backwards, hop/skip, jump rope, potato sack jump (king size pillow cases work-- potato sacks can be itchy), balloon between the knees, 3 leg race, etc.
