I was wondering if there is any seating indoors for Carnation Cafe.. i can't seem to remember? Also do they have bread bowls for their soup? I am planning on the baked potato soup but think it would be great in a bread bowl:goodvibes

I can answer one of your questions. They do not have indoor seating. I know this because last month we had PS ressies there, and it was raining. They were closed, so I never got to have the baked potato soup.

I have gotten the soup and its always been in a regular bowl. For bread bowls, the French Market and Royal Verandah have soup in bread bowls in DL. However, I think its gumbo and clam chowder. The Pacific Wharf cafe has soup in breadbowls over in DCA but again, I am not sure its potato. I want to say its chowder and broccoli cheese.

Not sure when you are planning to go to DL, but the Carnation Cafe is closed right now and I don't know for how long, maybe through the holiday season??:confused3 We love this place and were sad we didn't get to eat there. I don't know about the bread bowl but I am thinking they don't have them. Also there is no indoor seating. The patio seating is covered well with umbrellas but thats it.

I'm going this weekend and I made PS's for breakfast there on Saturday.. The CM when I called didn't say anything about closure.. :confused3

tracer, are you sure you aren't thinking of the Riverbelle Terrace between Frontierland and NOS? It is undergoing a large refurbishment. The Carnation Cafe (on Main Street) is open for breakfast and lunch currently, but there is only outside seating

For those of you that LOVE the Baked Potato soup, enjoy it while it lasts... We spoke with Oscar, the chef at Carnation Cafe and he said that DL is planning on removing it from the menu.. They are going towards a "healthier" menu.. He did not give a date, but if you happen to dine there during the week, Oscar will give you a copy of the recipe if you ask him...:goodvibes

Nope I am thinking about Carnation Cafe, but we tried to go for dinner at 5pm...maybe it was just closed by that time?? They clearly said, we are closed...:confused3 I hope you get to go there...we love it!!:yay:

Thanks for the replies!! We hope to eat there when we are there for new years!:goodvibes

so do you have the recipe?:goodvibes I have one for baked potato soup that i use now and it is tatsy but i wonder how it compares to the disney one?:confused3

It is definitely still open. We ate there Monday. It was very good. They do not have any indoor seating, but they do have umbrellas covering most tables. It was a little cold sitting there for our lunch, but we still enjoyed it. We had a Priority Seating Reservation and it still took us almost 30 minutes to be seated, just so you know. Poor us, had to do some shopping. LOL

In thinking about it, I want to say that Carnation Cafe is only open for breakfast and lunch. So that may be why it was closed for Tracer.

Yep, they only do dinner seasonally (usually during peak spring break and summer)

Lol hey, my first time here on this board :) I usually just lurk but had to post because I'm going this weekend and made a PS for dinner on Friday. Usually it is closed for dinner but the cast member at Disney Dining said it's open for dinner on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the holidays. The last seating is at 7:30 pm. We're going after the parade! Can't wait for the baked potato soup :goodvibes

I LOVE the baked potato soup!!! It's the best! I can't believe they're taking it off the menu! Whatever they replace it with can't possibly be as good!
