Carnation Cafe Fireworks strategy?

Thinking of getting a dinner reservation at Carnation Cafe for about an hour and 15 minutes before Fireworks, on the theory that we can walk out of the restaurant onto Main Street after we eat, watch the Fireworks, and be close to the exit when they are over.

Does that make sense? The logistics work in my head, but wondering why everyone doesn't do this if it is such a great idea.

If you want to be that far back on Main Street or in Town Square for the fireworks, there isn't really a need for a TS reservation. Just walk up to your spot before the show. There shouldn't be a huge crowd to fight for viewing spots that far back. If you want to have dinner at CC, book for whatever time works for your family and enjoy your meal.

I personally wouldn't do this if seeing fireworks is a priority for you. Getting the timing right is tough. For Carnations, the meal itself is usually pretty fast (under an hour), but getting seated is the biggest unknown. I've been seated almost as soon as I've been checked in to 30 minutes after my ADR time; it all depends on how busy they are and how behind schedule they are. You won't be able to see the fireworks if your still eating when they start; Carnation Cafe doesn't have tables with a view. As theluckyrabbit said, you generally should be able to find a spot that far back on Main Street, especially if you're willing to go further down Main Street towards Town Square, close to show time (unless, perhaps you're going during a peak crowd period like Thanksgiving or Christmas week). You'll be well positioned to exit, but you'll be fairly far back, so you're compromising some of the view.
