Which do people prefer for lunch when boarding the ship? I assume the food is the same? Atmosphere?

Thanks

Bill

We used to love cabanas on the magic when there was more outdoor seating. Especially on our sailings out of NYC. The view was beautiful. Now we prefer the MDR because you don't have to search for seating and drinks are brought to you. It is nice to relax a little after the craziness of boarding

As noted, it kind of depends on what you want. We prefer the buffet - better views and outdoor seating. But the MDR is good for more quiet, and a place to put your carryons while you go to the buffet.

Typically, the buffet in the MDR is a little more limited than Cabanas, but it's basically the same food.

There are more food choices at Cabanas, but the MDR is less chaotic. We go to the MDR because we don't have to find our own table and drinks are brought to us.

I like MDR. I don't want to search for a table while balancing trays and dragging carry ons. I like to sit down, have some wine brought to me, and start relaxing!

A vote for Cabanas for lunch. Yes, it is more crowded than the MDR. Some may prefer the reduced noise/more quiet atmosphere of the MDR because of the reduced crowd. Personally, I like the Cabanas atmosphere - I'm excited on embarkation day and I find the Cabanas atmosphere to be part of that. The selection is much more varied in Cabanas, you can't beat the view, and it's not that difficult to find a place to eat. We have found somewhere to sit every time (and we have been a party of 4, 5, or 6 depending on the cruise).

we're platinum so by the time we're on the ship and at cabanas, its pretty quiet. with that said, i honestly like going to the mdr because its a slower pace and the slower pace helps pass the time until the room is ready.

I prefer Cabanas before noon or after 2, as otherwise it can be too crowded to find a nice table outside.

Funny, we when we were on the refurbished Magic found on embarkation, it was loud and no where to place your carry one it was very full?

When did you do Cariocas, what cruise was it?
