We had a caricture artist at our reception (instead of a DJ). The cost was hourly, and I believe there may have been a three hour minimum - but don't quote me on that. They charged us about $500 -- the artist was at the cocktail hour and drew pictures for our guests throughout almost all of our reception. It was really great because our guests got to take home their pictures as added souveniers. We have ours hanging on the wall in our bed room. Also -- the artist we had drew really nice carictures that really resembled each person - not the kind you see at most places where they make you look really ugly (big noses, teeth etc..) I was really impressed and would highly recommend having an artist. For us it was the perfect entertainment for our guests - it was much cheaper than wasting money on a DJ (which cost well more than twice as much) for only 30 guests who don't really dance. We had our reception at the Living Seas, and brought a small CD player along with a great Frank Sinatra CD. They set it up near a microphone (free of charge) and the music piped through the whole area!
