Caribe Royale vs Doubletree?

Hello again, I'm in need of more advice please!

I've booked a room for my family (two adults, one child), at the Caribe for our 4 night stay in Orlando. Right now, we're in at a rate of about $150/night. Parking included, no breakfast.

BUT.... Doubletree is starting to show lower rates, of approximately $119/night for the same time period. Our family MUST MUST MUST stay in a suite-type accommodation.

Here's the question. Is Caribe worth the extra money? We were originally drawn to it for the pool. And what a pool! Both DH and DD looooove to swim in hotel pools (DD does not yet realize that some hotels here in Canada don't actually HAVE pools, hah!).

We're willing to pay the extra IF the Caribe is that one *notch* better. But if the two hotels are almost identical..... well then.....!!!!

If there is anyone out there that can help me with this, I would so very much appreciate it!

I've enjoyed the Doubletree very much. The pool is probably better than a standard hotel. No slide though. Nice landscaping. You can hear road noise. Nice music/ pool bar/ kiddie pool/ playground.

Sorry have not been to Carbe Royal to compare.

Thank you for the feedback.

I guess I'm trying to figure out (with lots of help!) whether there is a substantial difference in the atmosphere at Caribe vs. Dbltree? Is Caribe really more like a proper "resort"? Am I comparing apples to apples? With only 4 nights in Orlando, we want to really enjoy them.

I have stayed at Caribe Royale, but not the Doubletree. I can tell you that Caribe is HUGE and very much like a resort, not a typical hotel. We loved it and the pool is spectacular!

Thank you AZMyers - we definitely want more of a "resort" experience. While we are planning 2 days at the parks, my husband and daughter love to swim and nice amenities & beautiful pool are pretty important.

So we're definitely committed to the Caribe - and I'm so happy, the rate has recently come down to $129, which makes it even better!

Now, if I could only get a cheaper rate on the car rental.... $200 for 5 days... *groan*....

You'll enjoy the Caribe Royale. There wasn't anything about it I DIDN'T like :)

I haven't stayed at the Doubletree, but the Caribe Royale is fantastic. We stayed in the villas and loved every part of it. It truly is like a resort. It's massive and the pool is spectacular. There's a private pool for the villas too.

I have stayed at the Doubletree a few times, but it's only really good (IMHO) if you need a good suite place to sleep. I don't recall the pool being much of any draw. It is great as it's a Downtown Disney hotel, so it's close and has the Downtown Disney bus system.

I can't imagine only doing 2 park days! That's just me...

If it were just us with one child, I'd look into the Swan or Dolphin. Their "resort" atmosphere is excellent, at a fraction of the Boardwalk price. And, I love the pool as well as the proximity to Epcot and DHS.

It's difficult to find a "suite" accomodation for a low price. I have heard one Marriott timeshare has a pirate pool that is awsome. They can be rented nightly, and sometimes you can get a good deal to listen to the timeshare "presentation". I am partial as I own one Marriott timeshare, and love it.

Don't forget the poolside tropical birds at Caribe! Loved it, suites are huge and the pool is fantastic. We sipped frozen concoctions by the pool, sat next to the tropical birds and watched the kids have the time of their lives on the slide. Good times!

Does anyone know if the book at Caribe is Heated, looking to stay over New Years, and want to swim.
