Caribe Royale Questions

I am planning on a trip for next year and actually thinking about maybe staying off property just to save money. I can get a 1 bedroom suite at the Caribe Royale for $99 compared to one of the Disney properties that I like at $300 + per night. My husband stayed here once for a convention but it was many years ago. Has anyone stayed here recently? I know it is off property but would like some insight on what people think. We have always stayed on Disney property but once I priced my trip for next year it was really high. I have heard they have an awesome pool at this resort. I have 3 kids so that is important for a hotel we stay at.
