Our 60 day out mark is approaching fast and I am trying to decide on excursions for our day in Nassau. We are a family of 4 (DD6 and DS11). We live on the Gulf Coast of FL and have snorkeled for scallops before. (My children can both swim, but neither have swam where they couldn't touch bottom.) My husband and I have snorkelled in the Caribbean and thought our children would enjoy seeing the beautiful fish. I know we can snorkel on CC , but have also read that if you don't get there early the sand gets stirred up and you don't see many fish.

Now, finally to my question. On Nassau day we thought we might take a snorkel excursion. Which one? Caribbean Queen Snorkel Tour or Catamaran Sail & Reef Snorkeling? What would be your recommendation with children our age? Any positive experiences? Suggestions?

I did notice that one departs in the AM and the other in the PM. Will that matter? The only other thing we thought we might do is go to the Pirate Museum.pirate:

Thanks for your input!

I'm going to keep bumping you up on this one because I've been considering this same question.

We leave Thursday on the Wonder and I have an 8 year old and an 11 year old (both boys) I pondered the same question and searched the boards for weeks. My 11 year old is a good swimmer but my 8 year old although he swims well isn't as experienced and likes to be near shore. So my 11 year old is going with my sister and her older ones on the catamaran snorkel excursion and I will take the younger one to Blue Lagoon, I've heard pros and cons about all the excursions and truly feel it's what you make of it. Sorry I can't tell you from experience (yet), but I just knew that my younger one would not want to be in the water for a whole hour and not be able to touch bottom. Good Luck with your choice.

We also are considering one of the two snorkling tours. DD's are 10 and 12, and both can swim rather well. I'm thinking we might do the one in the PM since we are late sleepers. We might do the straw market in the AM, and then lunch onboard before heading off to snorkle. We're sailing on 8/12 on the Wonder.

I have never cruised DCL before, but did a Carnival Cruise and did the Blue Lagoon excursion. We loved it. Younger snorkeler's might enjoy snorkling at Blue Lagoon where you can stay close to shore. They rent snorkeling equipment on the Island.

Jeri
