Hi everyone,
I'm staying in October at the CBR and I've stayed in all the Bldgs. so far except Jamaica and Aruba. It seems from pictures that the Bldgs. at Jamaica seems prettier than Aruba's. I'm not sure how the rooms look inside them though.

I'm really into themes and wanted to know your opinion on which building is better and why. Also, any comments you have about tips where to stay in either place would be great!

I have a rental car so I'll be fine getting around the resort but I don't mind walking either across the bridge to get to Old Port Royale.

Jamaica.

This is from 2002, but I am sure it hasn't changed much since then.

We were in Aruba and we liked it just fine. They only problem DH and I saw was that Aruba was where the smoking building was located. We weren't in the smoking building, but people at the quiet pool were smoking all around us. DH and I neither smoke and DH has asthma problems that make him like a bear to be around if exposed to many irritants. People were actually smoking in the pools! Now with the no smoking policy in the rooms and only certain areas of the resort listed as smoking areas that shouldn't be much of a problem. Next time I won't hesitate to call to report someone smoking near the pool area with these new rules!:)

We had a wonderful stay at CBR from 6/8-6/16 2007! We stay in Jamaica Bldg 44 facing the courtyard. Very close to bus stop and bridge to Port Royale. When my DH noticed how convenient we were to everything(plus 1st to be pick up and drop off) he said "this is not by accident that we got such a great room close to everything" He knew it was from the working of the DISboards. Yes I requested the location:wizard: We loved it:goodvibes

We were in Aruba building 54, which I think is a great building for Aruba. But it did seem like a far walk to the bridge.

However, the room was ready when we got there at 7:30 a.m., which was wonderful. I was more than ready to trade location for convenience! We had a second floor room that was one of the closest to the bus stop in my opinion, which made it especially nice when we came back from MK EMH at 4:00 in the morning. :cool2:

That being said, the original question was Aruba or Jamaica, and I think Jamaica would be more convenient.

The rooms are all decorated the same. Jamaica is closer to the bridge.
I'm sorry, safetymom, but I just can't agree with you there. The foot of the bridge is right at the Aruba/Jamaica border. One of my cherished photos is from my 1990 trip -- it's of my wife and me standing at the end of the bridge with Aruba 51 and Jamaica 45 both directly behind us.

Other than the exterior color schemes, I just can't fathom any substantial differences between Aruba and Jamaica.

Jamaica was excellent. Were in building 43 and it was close to the bridge. Even stopped at the bus stop by the OPR and then walked across the bridge. Had a great view of the EPCOT fireworks. Not a bad thing to say about any resort we have stayed at while staying on CBR.

Hi,

There are no preferred rooms available so looking for the next closest area. What is the trick to getting a particular building in Jamaica? WHat about room number(s) - I prefer 1st floor if no elevators. My youngest has asthma and it seems like I may want to stay away from Aruba.

How far/long is the walk across the bridge to OPR pool and dining?

Jamaica 44 is my suggestion. When making reservations request the location and bldg. There are no guarantees, but they try to accomodate requests.
