I can answer your question about the courtyard. We just came back. We stayed in Jamaica Bldg 44 courtyard 2nd floor. I never saw any smokers in the courtyard or alot of people enjoying the courtyard. We had a small breakfast at one of the tables during one morning. It was nice.

Thank you. That is very reassuring to hear. We have put in a request for either bay view or courtyard 1st floor(thanks for that recommendation catbertdave99:thumbsup2 ) so our kids can run around while we relax.

Quick question and with so many posts I am notsure it has been asked before.
We are staying at the CBR thanks to a great Ap rate and have requested first floor access as mom will be coming with us and will have a scooter. I hear that there are no elevators at the buildings but are their ramps should we not get a first floor room for some reason? I really don't like the thought of having to disaasemble the scooter and carry it up stairs every time we want to get up to our rooms.

Also, there are 7 of us going two rooms 3 adults 4 kids and we requested connecting rooms but were told that it could not be gauranteed (this they did gaurantee for us at Pop before we switched) . Anyone ever have a problem requesting connecting rooms and then not getting them?

Thanks a bunch!

I have a question that is OT. What is the nearest large grocery store to CBR and how do we get there? I don't really care what chain it is or anything, just the easiest to get to that would have a good selection.

Using a grocery delivery will save you time and money over taking a taxi to a grocery store. You have 3 grocery delivery options, 2 stand-alone delivery services and one supermarket that delivers.

The 2 are www.WeGoShop.com and www.GardenGrocer.com

The 1 is www.Goodings.com

With WeGoShop, you must schedule the delivery and be present for it. Gooding's, on the other hand, will never see you ... they deliver directly to Bell Services and then BS delivers to you, and they store your groceries for you (and even keep the cold stuff cold!!!) until you return their message and request they deliver the bags to you. Garden Grocer is somewhere in-between. They normally need you to be present, but all you have to do is request it and they'll deliver to Bell Services instead.

I used Gooding's twice and was completely satisfied each time. I tried to use Garden Grocer but they were "sold out" on my arrival day ... but the GG owner impressed me as a genuinely good guy.

No ramps, sorry. The second floor of each building is NOT wheelchair (or scooter) accessible.

::yes::
agreeing with CleveRocks. There are no ramps, so no way to get to the second floor.

If you requested first floor as your first request, the CM assigning rooms will know that is the most important request. Also, you can ask that they list "First Floor for Medical Reasons". That tells the CM why the request is important.

Definately agree here! They try to (and DO) seem to honor ALL 1st requests. We were there 1 year ago, 5 rooms total! 3 rooms were connecting, the other 2 were also, just a corner away! It was Great!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice. We will have our own car and are going to be there for 10 nights, so will probably need a lot of stuff.:rotfl2: Would you still recommend having everything delivered?

If you have your own car, I would recommend that you go to Publix grocery store on Highway 192 (W. Irlo Bronson Hwy.) in Kissimmee. It's about a 5 to 10 minute drive (depends on traffic) from the Walt Disney World entranceway.

W. Irlo Bronson is marked with big purple markers. Publix is located at Marker 9. You can go online at www.flakiss.com and find a map. The site is the official Kissimmee/St. Cloud website.

Our stay is 10 days also and we always make a trip to Publix to stock up on supplies.

Let me know if you need more info. Lisa

i have a question:

we just added my mom to our grand gathering ressie and we will be staying at the cbr. now it is hard for her to climb stairs so i made a quest for her to
be on the 1st floor(she has her own room). will we be on the 1st floor too there will be 2 more rooms with our group since we are considered grand gathering.

now if we are on the 1st floor, how is the noise level above us. we asked for jamacia
#45 are you allowed to ask for water view or is that considered a preferred?

thanks

The noise isn't bad. We were on the first floor in March and didn't hear a thing from other rooms.

Water view carries an additional charge, but it can just mean a view of the village's quiet pool as easily as it can mean a view of the lake. I wouldn't bother with it, and be happy if you get it. You'll love Jamaica regardless of what view you get!

Thanks for that info. Publix are pretty big stores aren't they? I want a place with a big selection that also sells beer so we only have to make one stop for the trip.

Congrats on the Grand Gathering!! We had one last year, 5 rooms, 16 people!!!! As for noise, we heard nothing, except ...see below....

I have stayed on both floors and have never heard anything except the turbo-toilets. :lmao:
Same here! But only when I was IN the bathroom did I hear those noises! :lmao:

What is everyone's experience with faxing your requests to CBR? I read on allearsnet.com to send it in 4 days in advance. Today would've been our 4th day but it just wasn't going to happen today because we couldnt get to a fax machine. Can I still send one, or will I just be wasting my time?
TIA

If you have your requests in your reservation there is no need to fax. You can always ask when you check in. I prefer the CM to grant a little pixie dust when I get my room assignment.

Just saw the fact on the pool closure for Jan - June of 2008. I wasn't sure when that was posted, we are planning a trip (maybe) for this Nov, 2007. Can anybody confirm it will still be open then?

How is the bus transportation at CBR? We stayed there back in 2002 and found it to be good-no long waits at the bus stops. We are staying there this summer and I have been reading a lot of threads with negative comments about the CBR bus system. Any info or thoughts?
Thanks!

If you are driving, I recommend that you take your alcohol with you from home if you have the room. We bought alcohol (Beer and Wine Coolers) from the grocery and liquor stores in Kissimmee and it costs us close to double what it would from home. Next time we'll take it with us or just choose not to drink.
Good Luck and Have Fun!

Just there this March 24-31 -- bus service was still as good as it was 2 years before -- probably even better! We never had a long wait, and there were plenty of buses. We did have some high school lacrosse and baseball teams returning from the parks with us late at night which made the bus crowded, but I think that's more because we were there on Spring Break than anything else. The waits returning from the parks weren't bad at all either!

I love the Disney bus system -- I don't have to drive at all on my vacation!!:cool1:
