Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

No telling, but I can tell you that last time CBR was closed for refurb., we already had our ressie for Dec. and didn't find out till around Sept. that the resort was going to be closed and had to transfer to another resort.

At that time we were offered the option of staying at another mod for same price or the Poly or AKL for about $25.00 a night more. So it turned out well for us - I couldn't pass up trying the Poly for a such a good price.

Can I hold my breath for that to happen for us???? :lmao: I know it won't. I just don't have that kind of luck.

Question, may have been posted previously however I haven't seen anything. Is there going to be a hot tub included in the new pool area? We love CBR but usually opt for CSR since there is an actual hot tub there.

Yes there is going to be a hot tub there. They always had one. All the moderates have hot tubs.

Hi;

We are booked to be at CBR Sep. 16th thru the 27th. :cool1:

Our flight home is at 11:00 pm and my question is, Do we allow to have a late check out and if so do they charge for it? We might want to go to the park that day and we want to take a bath before we leave.

We ask our TA and she said that is depend on the availibility, and to let them now when we check in to see how busy they are.

Anyone had this experince before, if so what do you do?:confused3

Thanks

CBR was wonderful when our 13 yr was sick ( bad asthma attack). We had a 4 pm flight and they kindly allowed us to stay until 2 - she felt better so we left at 1. We let the front desk know so housekeeping would know the room was empty.

We were told that late check outs were allowed occasionally for a good reason.

Because your flight is so late, might be a good idea to just pay for another day and the room can be yours for as long as you need it.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip! :)

They may let you stay until 1 with no charge. If you want to stay longer you would probably be charged for another day.

You should ask the day before you check out what the latest you could stay on checkout day.

I think you're going to have a very hard time staying that late.....hotels that do allow late checkout it's usually 2-3 hours at the most.....certainly not until after checkin time which is what you're asking. Think of it this way.....you're supposed to check out at 11am so that they have time to clean the room before the next guest checks in at 4pm. If they allow you to stay late to take a shower after 4pm, they've pretty must lost the ability to clean and resell that room. 11pm flight means you don't have to be at the airport until 9pm.....but even staying after checkin makes their chances of reselling that room go way down....and it's not just a matter of "well, they're not booked up anyway"....what if everyone with a late flight wanted to do another day at the park and check out after dinner.

The family that had the sick kid that got a late check out.....that was definitely Disney pixie dust at work.......but I doubt the pixie dust would reach to wanting to take a shower. Obviously you can always ask, but I'd not plan on your request being granted.

You CAN however, leave your bags at the check out desk so that you can go to the park for the day, return to pick up your bags and head to the airport. Lots and lots of people do that, but the bags are held in the lobby (probably same place they keep the ME bags, but that's just a guess). So your room is ready to be cleaned and sold to another guest. But a shower isn't going to happen unless you're willing to pay for another night's stay. You could always pack your toiletries kit near the top of your suitcase and go into a public bathroom to "freshen up" but that's probably the best you're going to get. You MIGHT be able to get the desk staff to let you use a washcloth and towel, but even that might be pixie dust at work, so be prepared to freshen up with the papertowels in the bathroom, or bring along your own washcloth and towel and a large plastic bag to take them home in.

Now I don't know if there are any major truck stops nearby, but they will often have shower facilities for the truckers, including showers that cost a few dollars (we've used them on long road trips and I recall them ranging from $7 to $12 depending on where you were and sometimes the amentities you wanted, i.e. private shower or locker room style). Some truck stops are nicer than other as far as amentities and cleanliness, just FYI. But when you've been on the road a day or two and want a shower, you take what you can get, lol.

When we have a late afternoon flight (which we try to avoid) we always take along a couple of old washclothes and towels, then throw them away after freshening up.

A perfect solution for us!:thumbsup2

Check-out time at all WDW resorts is 11:00 a.m. Late check-out depends, of course, on availability; generally speaking, the earliest you can request it is the night before, and often must be the morning of.

Here the general rule of thumb on late check-outs (if they are granted in the first place):
  • until 1:00 p.m. -- complimentary
  • until 3:00 p.m. -- half of the daily rack rate
  • after 3:00 p.m. -- 100% of the daily rack rate

This is a little off topic, but I was wondering if the TV's at the CBR have RCA inputs so that I would be able to hook up my portable dvd player.

Oooh I didn't even think of that. That's a pretty good idea.

Thank you all for the imput. I like the idea of let us check out at 3:00pm and pay half of the day.

Our flight is late no because we choose, is the only one coming in from Orlando to Ponce, Puerto Rico. I was planning to stay at the hotel and do some swimming and relax before we go. If they let us stay until 3:00 then we can get ready, leave the luggage with the CM and have some dinner and get ready to go. I will call tomorrow.:goodvibes

Just keep in mind you won't be able to do this until you are at the resort if you are asking to check out at 3. They will be able to tell you the day before.

You could go ahead and try and add a day now if there are any discounts available for your dates.

It took me awhile, but I finally finished reading through this thread. Really great information and a big thanks to Safetymom for all her information. I just came back from a long weekend at DW, stayed at ASMu forthe first time and really loved it. We had the dining plan for the first time and loved that even more. I booked another stay in September with the free dining. CBR was the only moderate resort available when I booked. I've stayed there before but it's been more than 10 years, I'm really looking forward to being back!
