Caribbean Beach FAQ part V

Just a standard my younger dd wasn't thrilled with the looks of the pirate room. I wanted one but I didn't want her scared the entire vacation. We did drop the WP option off our tickets beacuse we thought the pool at CBR would be enough . We are still doing TL since we have some non-expirey's left. The the other day we were planning on doing BB we figured we could do a resort/DTD day,

I really think the move was in our best intrest. But I haven't even told dh he just called for lunch. I thought I would spill the beans but nope. So I'm hoping that CBR and pop still share ME. When we stop at CBR I'm just going to tell them we need to get off.

I think you'll be fine with a standard room. I saw you post that you're going to request a building in Jamaica. We've stayed in Jamaica 3 times and really liked the location.

Did you tell your husband about the change yet or did you decide to keep it a secret?

Oh, right! I forgot about Martinique having some standard rooms. I know it is silly, but I would be okay with the color of those buildings too. I just wonder if I would miss going across the bridge to OPR? I really do like that walk!! Hmmm.....I'll have to think some more on what to request......

 My DH said the same thing when I told him that Martinique was one of my requests!! He was like -- if we aren't in Jamaica or Aruba then we won't get to walk across the bridge to OPR! I told him I was pretty sure we were still allowed to walk across the bridge anytime we wanted!!:rotfl:

That is funny! At least I know I'm not alone in my thinking!!! :goodvibes

You two are definitely not alone in your thinking. I love the walk over the bridge and through the island too.

I am starting to freak out!!! :rotfl2::banana: I can't wait for our trip. We leave in 9 days!!!! We have a room only rez for AKL our first night (have always wanted to stay there and this will probably be our only shot unless we eventually buy DVC as we have 3 kids and our youngest is 2). We will move over at CBR from the 19-29th. So I have a few questions:

1. I am planning on heading over to CBR to check in about 7am, do you think I should do online check-in or since I am checking in that early should I just do regular check-in so I can request a change if I really don't like the location of our room? We are planning on doing BB this day so we won't be back to the room until like 3 or 4pm anyway.

2. I have read that if you have free dining all adults have to be present at check-in, does my DH have to be there or can I just check-in for us? We have an ADR at Boma that morning and it would be great if he could stay back and get the kids ready.

3. I have print outs (which I laminated :rotfl2:) to decorate our window at CBR, does anyone have any suggestions on how to hang the stuff?

4. Finally we are renting a car (or a van) and I was wondering your opinions....so we have an 11 day mini-van rental for $346 or a premium car rental for $211 (like a Buick Lacrosse or Buick Regal). I am wondering if we should save the $140 and go with the car. My father-in-law thinks the car will be big enough. We have to fit two booster seats and one car seat (not a big one) in the back seat. DH is taking ME so we can send out luggage along with them and I just have to pick up the rental.

Sorry for all the ??'s I am just starting to spaz out!! I already started packing over the weekend and I actually have two suitcases, a 25" and a 23" with just "our extras" in them! :lmao:

Thanks!!:thumbsup2 Jenn

Does anyone know if CBR has a refurb scheduled in the near future at this time? We are trying to plan our April 2012 trip and thought about giving this resort a try but need queen beds so I wasn't sure if CBR was on the list to be renovated like CSR and POR.

Thanks!

I believe CBR rooms were refurbed in 2007. We had a freshly refurbed room Dec. 2008 when we stayed there.

1. Well, I only have one experience, but I will share it with you. We did a split stay last year between CBR/AKL. I did online check in for both. When we arrived at CBR, there was no line. I got everything I needed with no problem and we liked the location of our room. All good!!! :cloud9:
Then, when we went to AKL, it was a bit more of a hassle unfortunately. (not saying this will happen to you.....just our experience) I had a CM that was new, I think, but she was very friendly. She gave me all the info. I needed and directed me to my room. However, she didn't give me very good directions and it took me a while to figure out where to go. We didn't get any of our requests and our room was right next to a smoking area (we don't smoke). I was very disappointed and went back to the front desk. She was able to then give me exactly what I requested with no issues.
All that to say, we had no problem changing our room after having done online check in. One place we got our request, and the other place we didn't, but were able to easily change things around.

2 & 3. I can't answer those.

4. I would rent the minivan and not take any chances. We tried to put a car seat and two boosters in the back of our Honda Accord last week and it didn't work. Not sure how much different a Buick would be, but I'm not sure I would want to take a chance.

Well it is an enjoyable walk! :cloud9:

Can't wait!! :cool1:

It has been decided! My husband said he wants the walk. So, I guess I'll be requesting Jamaica. My husband would be VERY happy if we were in the exact same place as last year. We don't really like change. :rolleyes1

Do they still have full sized beds? I know CSR was upgraded to queen beds last year and POR is currently undergoing the same upgrade so that's what I was wondering. More about if anyone knows if the beds are scheduled to be changed out in the near future.

Hello Disney Maniac's :cool1: - Hope everyone scheduled and/or already at WDW, have a great time. We are still going through withdraws.:rotfl2:

I do that every trip. I come home and book for next year.

Hey all! We are going to WDW in October and are staying at CBR (our first time at a moderate!!) It will be me, DH, DD (9), and DS (5 mo). Should I request a certain section of the resort, or just leave it up to the Disney Gods? ;)

My DD and I really enjoyed Martinique :thumbsup2 and have requested the same room for next year.

Us too we check in to CBR on 10/2. I was going to request a loctaion but after listening to people on here we're just going to "roll with it". It was more important to us to make sure we had a ground floor room instead of a location request. So I requested that instead. Hope you have a great time!!! :wizard:

It's our first stay at CBR, but the walk over the bridge looks pretty. :goodvibes I have a feeling my daughter and I will be the one to do the "drink run" in the morning cuz my hubbie waits until last minute to get up. So I want it to be nice! Besides, I need 5 minutes of peace when I first wake up before diving into the day. :thumbsup2

He still has no idea. I think my girls may sort of know I was watching you tube video of CBR. MY youngest asked if we could stay in a nemo room instead of POP. I didn't really give a answer and she just sort of droped it.

And in our family, I wait until the last minute to get up while my husband does the drink/breakfast run. :rotfl: I really love the walk from Jamaica to OPR! It is so pretty! I can't count the number of times I said to my husband last year, "I love it here!" It is such a relaxing atmosphere! I made my request for Jamaica last night. I hope you love the resort just as much as we do!!! :goodvibes

Yes, full size beds, no queens.

I say the same thing when we are there. The resort grounds are so beautiful and the walks are so peaceful. I'm already countin' down the days until we are back there again.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you are able to keep the secret...such a great secret at that!
