CARES harness and Midwest Airlines

I tried posting this on the Transportation board and haven't heard anything yet.

We bought a CARES harness for DS 2 1/2 but were looking at the instructions and are now afraid that Midwest Airlines might have the wrong types of tray tables, thus rendering the person sitting behind us w/out a table. Or at least turning it into a small scale production for them to open their table. Which I don't want.

Can anyone tell me if they've had experience with this? Specifically on a flight from Kansas City to Orlando (i.e. one of their smaller jets?)

WE used them on Southwest..so I'm sorry I can't help you. I hope that no one gives you problems, as your childs safety is most important!

Yes, but with all due respect, if something happens on the plane, there's really very little a CARES harness will do to protect them. We're doing it more for a way for DS to understand he has to stay in his seat.

On our return trip, we're seated in front of other family members which will be much more considerate.

Well, with turbulance and bumps on the planes, the harness will keep them put in their seat and safe from any falls. Also, if there were to be an emergency landing or anything like that...the CARES will surely help.

We took a Midwest flight out of kc in January and used a CARES that I rented online.

The belt was really difficult to work around the seat (they are very wide) so it actually topped out just above the tray closure. If it had wiggled down anymore it would have cut off access to the tray locking mechanism. We had family behind us on both flights so they were able to assist with attachment and removal.

I also boarded the plane at first call for "passengers needing assistance". The flight attendants we had were not aware of the device but thought it was a great idea and were very supportive of it's use. And it did keep my 4 year-old in her seat for the entire flight.
