we bought our home last november, and realized as the summer got going that we had 6 blueberry bushes and a bunch of strawberry plants. all have yielded wonderfully (I swear I'm picking a pint of blueberries daily now), and the strawberries are starting to flower again. Its been fun for the kids and sooo yummy.

my question is, I don't know what to do for them. do I fertilize? how often/with what/when? So far the only thing I've done is throw nets over them so the birds don't pick them clean.

any advice?

Not sure if this is true on the East Coast but here on the West Coast you can just leave them be year round. If anything it's hard to get rid of them, especially strawberries because of those runners.
