Cardinals are stupid birds

We have a cardinal that keeps flying into our sliding door. He sits on our deck furniture and then flies straight at the door. I think he's trying to attack my red chair in the family room.
My FIL had one a couple of summers ago that would peck at its' reflection in the mirror of his pickup. This leads me to think cardinals are stupid birds.

That's so funny! Just last night we were at our weekly bible study and I thought I saw cardinal crash into their sliding glass door. Later the host said the cardinal has been doing that for a while. Strange!

AHA! Further proof of my theory!

Sorry, gotta squash the theory. It's mating time and the Cardinal just sees his reflection in the glass and thinks it's another male horning in on his territory. He's just protecting his turf.

it sees it reflection as another bird is trying to attack it. I would put up some decals on the door so it doesnt hurt himself

Hey..better that than being afraid to enter/exit your front door because swallows have made a nest in your lightfixture and dive bomb you every time you use that door.

This is actually happening to my ILs right now. They have a lamp thingie that hangs from the 'porch' area just outside their front door. Swallows have made a nest in the lamp thingy and divebomb ANYBODY who comes near the door. They haven't been able to use the door in over a month. And MIL says it's even worse now than it was at first because there are babies in the nest.

I went through that at my last house. What is it about my houses and birds?

I figured it was something to do with protecting his turf. But after 3 days of beating the crap out of himself I'd think he'd find another bird to fight. Therefore I'm still maintaining that it's a STUPID bird.
The summer my FIL had the one attacking his truck...It must have been mating season ALL SUMMER LONG.
