Hi Everyone! :flower3:
Couple of questions regarding card boxes...
Did you have one?
If so, where did you get yours?
Anyone around here make their own?
where did you put it at the reception?
Any pics?
Thanks so much! :flower3:

We do have one. I made one of those photo cardboxes... we still have to get our pictures taken to go inside... blah! I plan on putting it on our gift table at the reception with a sign that says cardbox or something...

We had a card box and bought it online. Disney does offer card box rentals. I think the options were a bird cage, treasure chest, or cake for $25 rental fee and a mailbox for a $65 rental fee. PM me if you want the photos and I'll forward the email.

Our card box looked like a present and was set on the guest book table outside the St. James Room for cocktail hour and then brought into the Promenade ballroom and set on the cake table after the cake was cut. Most of our guests had mailed their gifts to us prior to the wedding so we didn't feel the need for a gift table.

We had a very pretty white one that looked like a bird cage. Our colors were red and white so I decorated it with some red and white ribbon. It looked great - we put it on our gift table - which was when you walked in to ADH where our reception was. Not one person used it. We had 50 guests at our wedding. One person gave us a gift in a pretty gift shopping bag. Everyone else gave us an envelope and handed it to us toward the end of the reception. It is a good thing that one guest had given us that bag. As the table was near the door - maybe they did not realize this was the box for envelopes or they were afraid someone might take it - even though it was inside the building. I am sorry I threw away the receipt - I could have returned it as no one used it. I do not have a picture downloaded but if I get one I will add it to this.

We had a card box at our home reception. I bought the frames at Michaels with the 40% off coupons. Then my DH and FIL made it. It has a lazy susan on the bottom so it spins around!! The lid also lifted off. I LOVED how it came out!! We had it on the gift table in the ballroom. Since it was our home reception 3 months after the wedding I used wedding pictures.

We have one too that I got free from a friend but I have decided not to use it. I think I might get a small basket or something cause the one I have is way to big to ship down and then back again.

The more I thought about it-- some of my guests I think must've thought this too Linda b/c we got a bunch of cards at our farewell brunch the following morning. Makes sense.

Also for the OP- I think my card box was like $25 so it was worth it to buy as opposed to paying the same $$ to rent one from Disney. Plus I'm going to use it for x-mas decor. :thumbsup2

I agree - I also think people wanted to make it more personal by handing us the envelopes.

Here is a link to the one I used. It was really very pretty and I threaded some red ribbon through it.

I'm thinking of using an antique birdcage to fit in with the decor at the GF. Save on crafts has a few for pretty cheap but I may just rent one if they're available since I really don't have need for a birdcage after the wedding. I plan to add ribbon and a sign that says "Cards" and will probably even put one inside so that people get the idea.

I did make it... Thank you! It was a labor of love. Hmmm... I can try for directions, not sure how good they will be though...

I knew I wanted to make a frame cardbox and I found these frames I really liked and thought it would be awesome to use because they match the wedding. Problem was they were metal and not wooden so I couldn't use any screws to hold it together since that's how I planned on putting it together in my head....

Soooo I bought these brackets and instead of screwing them in since that was impossible I used E600 glue and glued the brackets on and the frames together {this took a few days since I had to do them piece by piece}. It's easier if you take the glass out while doing this and then after it all dries put the glass back.

Then I got poster board and put it to make a base and top. Wrapped the base in batting fabric and bought pink silk fabric to go over it and stapled it all on. For the top I did the same but cut a slot for the cards to go.

I saw a few different ones when I was looking around at Oriental Trading today. You might want to go to their website and take a look.
