Is there any truth to the function of these, or did I just blow $30 (for 90) that could have been better spent on a new pair of shoes?
I killed an hour and a half while DS was at a birthday party at a health food bakery (Carol's, for anyone in the RI area). There was another woman there just starting Atkins and the two of us listened in awe
as the saleswoman made her spiels about numerous products. The other woman purchase their $111 Atkins starter package (supplements?), plus some...I managed to just purchase the Carb Blockers and a lowcarb drink (not Atkins)...and some lowcarb pepper biscuits (delish) and a low carb chocolate bar...I think that's it.
According to the bottle, the carb blocker blocks "up to" 35 grams of carbs per meal (just love that...like a sale...save "up to 50%", but more likely 20%)...not a whole lot, in a way. I figure I'd use it for those "emergencies" like today when I didn't have anymore cream for my coffee, so I used Coffee-Mate instead (5 grams of carbs per TBS). Psychologically, I don't WANT to use the carb blockers, so maybe I'll be more determined not to "have to", rather than going the other way and being lax about limiting carbs because I have these so-called carb blockers to fall back on.
FYI, you take 2 pills 15 minutes before eating a meal. This woman (the saleswoman) talked about how she lost 2 pounds on her cruise using these carb blockers. Now, I'm not buying THAT as the reason why...blocking 35 grams of carbs/meal eating cruise cuisine ain't gonna make that much of a difference, so that little story didn't sway me.
So...any facts about carb blockers? I should have researched before I bought them, but I was caught up in the moment.
