if you take a carseat with you to the gate but have a lap child will they store the car seat with the strollers for you under the plane? We are using Magical express so we don't have luggage to pick up but 2 of us are getting a rental car and plan to take the baby with us so we will need the seat afterwards but really really trying to avoid going to baggage claim.

Yes, according to the SWA website, you can gate check carseats.

Just remember you won't get a carryon allowance only a personal item (diaper bag) for a lap baby so you need to be a REALLY good packer!

There are 6 others going so we can split up her stuff if need be..lol.
not to concerned there just didn't feel like getting the car seat from baggage claim since we won't have anything else there to pick up if I didn't have too.

Just be sure they know you want to pick it up at the gate at the destination. I've had it offered to me both ways (on Southwest), to get it at the destination gate OR to have it sent through to baggage claim.

We got car seat bags from Amazon that have "Gate Check" on them so the workers know to leave them at the gate. I don't have enough posts to post a link but they are called JL Childress Gate Check Bags. Worked great as the bags came out pretty dirty and one had a small rip, glad it wasn't the car seat! :)
