Car seat travel tray

We are traveling to Disney with DS4 and DS2. We will have an 8 hour drive and I was thinking it would be great to have some sort of tray for their car seats so they can color, play with small cars/toys and even eat snacks, etc. Any suggestions? We have Britax carseats.

I know that OneStepAhead.com sells a tray that safely secures onto their car seats, but we don't have them, so can't really comment on that part, but they look cool! LOL

We have been using the trays to their kitchen booster seats and the kids just hold them on their seats while they eat, play, etc. A big turn, or quick stop and things go flying, so it's not ideal, but it has worked for us. The booster seats that we have are those blue, red & yellow ones that fold up for easy travelling.

I would recommend something that doesn't interfere w/the car seat install and doesn't have hard edges. Here's a couple you might consider

or you can do what I did , buy a sheet of foam core board at the Dollar Tree, cut it down to just fit over the sides of the seat and maybe 14-15" deep, line the edges with clear packing tape (because I was afraid the paper backing I had cut might lead to paper cuts). I also took the excess and glued strips around the edges to make a little "lip" so pens and the like wouldn't roll off. It wasn't pretty but it has worked great on two trips - one 5hr each way and the other an 18hr drive each way (split into two days each way). And it was really cheap! DS rides in a Britax seat too btw.

I have the Taby Tray from One Step Ahead (although I ordered mine on EBAY) and love it. My older son uses it to color or eat for long trips and it attaches and detaches easily!!

Get a lap desk from somewhere like Target. It will be lightweight and won't interfere with your seat at all.

I have the Taby Tray from One Step Ahead (although I ordered mine on EBAY) and love it. My older son uses it to color or eat for long trips and it attaches and detaches easily!!

This is the one we have and I love it! It has a strap that threads under the car seat (doesn't interfere with installation at all). When not using the tray, you can unbuckle it from the strap but leave the strap in place. Its very light, as light as a lap desk. We tried a lap desk but my daughter (almost 3) couldn't keep it on her lap as well. Also, I like that the Taby Tray has a cup holder and a lip all the way around.
