Car Seat Question?

I was wondering if you are required to have a car seat on the plane for a two year old who weighs 30lbs. We don't need one in Disney so we would only be using it on the plane and she doesn't like to sit in it. Has anyone else not used a car seat and just used the seatbelt? Thanks!

We put my daughter in just a seat belt when she was 3. Of course, she probably weighed at least 40 lbs. by that time. This worked well for us. I don't know that I would have done it when she was 2. It would have been too hard to keep her in her seat without the car seat at that age.

Yep, we put our 2 1/2 year old in the seat. We flew to New Orleans with the car seat and flew back without it. She was not able to do anything while in the car seat - the snack tray wouldn't come all the way down, so she couldn't color, eating was an adventure, I had to hold her drink the whole flight... On the way home, she sat in the seat, colored, ate and took a nap on Mommy and Daddy's laps.

With 4 kids, we have found that fighting a car seat is nothing but a major pain! The seatbelts work wonderful. Just my thought. Good luck!

I was struggling with this also. We took it last year when he was almost 2 and went on a cruise, not to bad since they take the luggage. Then in San Diego we took it since we were getting a car. This year he will be almost three and I decided it is too much of a pain so I have been talking to him about sitting in the seat. He wiggles everywhere. Last year it was great because he would just fall asleep in it and would not think of getting up. This year he tells me that since I am letting him sit in a "big" seat he will sit and be good for Mickey. We will see how long that last, but at least he has good intentions.

You're not required to, but it is definitely much more safe for the child if you hit any turbulence. For me-I always brought the car seat even though it was a pain. My child is too precious! Just my opinion. If you do a search on car seats you'll find this has been debated often!
