Car Rentals - MCO pick-up or Other?

We need to book a car rental for our upcoming January trip. I can find many discount codes but I am wondering if I could save more money by picking the rental outside of the airport. We did this in the summer in Seattle and saved over half by picking up the car away from Sea-Tac airport. All the airport taxes and such made a huge difference, even with adding a cab to our hotel on arrival.

I don't even know where to look for the other locations. ?? We are staying at the Radisson on Apokoa (sp?) near CityWalk if anybody should happen to know if there is a car place around there.

Honestly, I do not know if there any huge savings by renting outside of MCO, but there are many locations to get a car. Hertz will pick you up and then take you back to SOG to complete the paperwork. There is the Car Care Center and I believe the Swan and Dolphin have counters. Each rental company's website can give you alternate locations in the area by using the search feature and then you can price out from there using the codes you have. Good luck.

National has an office near Universal.

We took DME to our hotel last trip and then picked up our Budget rental at the Double Tree Hotel near Downtown Disney, a comfortable walking distance. There was a significant price difference plus I didn't have to manage the roads around the airport and to the resort.

The best thing to do is price a pick up from MCO and then price a pick up at another location and go with the cheaper one. Personally I have found MCO to be cheaper at least it was for our trip this past May.
