We are heading down in early February and will have a baby with us, so we would like to rent a car and car seat for the week. We'd like to pick up the car and return at the airport. When I've searched online some of the rental companies are ones I've never heard of and looking on yelp brought out some very negative reviews. But some of the others are very pricey. Any suggestions for good deals on rental cars at the airport?

There are quite a few threads on the transportation board with codes for car rentals. I also check out www.mousesavers.com. I usually end up renting from Alamo right at the airport.

I've also found that sometimes you can get a good deal through Priceline when you're about a week out from your trip.

I've used the transportation board on here in the past to help me with codes for good deal on rentals in orlando. Also, the mousesavers website has some links for codes too. The transportation board can also give you their reviews on various car rental companies if you want that info.. I've used Dollar and Alamo myself with no issues.

Well looking at rates this far out will result in some high prices. The prices get better as your trip gets closer. Look at the transporation thread and some of those folks on the Dec rental car thread who looked for cars months ago were getting very high prices but as their trip got closer the rate took a nose dive.

Thank you! I feel silly for not remembering to look at the Transportation Board, but this has been very helpful!

If you have a Costco membership, they nearly always have the best rates. This morning I got a 5 day, fullsize, Alamo for $182. :thumbsup2

Do you know if a Canadian Costco membership will work? I guess I will check on the costco.ca website...

we used dollar the last time we rented a car and it was good, best prices I could find and aside from them tyring to push all kinds of extra services on us when we picked it up it was fine.

You know you can just check your infant seat with your luggage (no charge) so then you wouldn't have to rent one?

Another vote here for mousesavers.com

I agree. We learned the hard way. The seat we rented was gross and the straps were all twisted & sticky.
Next trip we spent like $20 on a zippered canvas car seat bag at babies r us to protect the seat. $ well spent as we took our ds#2's car seat then booster seat many, many times. I've seen some car seats in huge trash bags too if you don't think you'll be travelling often enough to buy a bag.

But always make SURE that one site is better than the others. The two weeks I booked with Alamo next month were higher through Costco than directly through Alamo. (and Dollar, apparently, is lower with a certain code someone mentioned on the January rental car deals thread).

Also, ready, you might not know this, but Alamo at MCO doesn't have a Standard aisle. So if you book Standard, you get to choose from the Full sized aisle at that airport. Kinda cool! Save a buck or two.

Very good point, I have also had that experience.

Didn't know that - thanks!

Not certain this always applies, but when I have booked through Costco, the additional driver has been free (which works better for us). Maybe someone more knowledgeable can comment on this.

I used E-Z rent a car when we just needed a car for a couple of days, they were very nice, I got a bigger car than I could get with the others, no problems at all and they are in the terminal, not off site.
