Can you tell me which car rental places do not charge extra for an additional driver?

Enterprise is who we use and they do not charge for additional drivers. I am not sure why any company would charge, what difference does it make?

I tried to rent a car from them once for someone else and they wanted extra. Its because they are renting the car to a spacific person and the insurance only covers that person driving. So you have to pay more if someone else is going to be driving.

Last I checked t's against the law to charge extra driver fees in the state of California. You should call the rental company to make sure.

I just reserved a car from Enterprise from the Tucson airport this morning (at least at our Enterprise location, Monday is the cheapest day to reserve in my experience). Here was their exact (yes, I copied and pasted) extra driver verbiage:

THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF $10.00 PER DAY FOR EACH ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZED DRIVER OTHER THAN A SPOUSE OR DOMESTIC PARTNER

I suppose it could vary based on rental location.

I've been told that in CA they do not charge extra for a spouse. I'm not sure if they will charge you if the extra driver is just another adult, but not a spouse.

Yes - not sure if it is for members only but I rent a lot through them. It will show you the discount pricing for all car rental companies, Budget, Alamo, Hertz, etc.

So you don't really rent from them. It is kinda like priceline, where they give you quotes from different places, at a discount?

I used Advantage; no extra charge and they were SUPER cheap. Rented a brand new (1200 miles) compact for a week, $90.

If you "name your own price" through Priceline, they will charge for an additional driver even if it is a spouse.

We've rented from Dollar and have never been charged for extra driver for spouse.

But you know, I recall some companies stating a charge for non spouse additional drive.

Good luck! Just double check the fine print and make sure no charge and that you have unlimited mileage :)
