We are going to be in Orlando 2 days before the cruise and are renting a car. Is there a car rental terminal at the port? If so does anyone know which company services the port?

Thanks so much
Sarah

Avis has an office at the radisson which is right near the port, they have a free shuttle to and from the port area. If you go to mousesavers.com they usually have good codes for discounts there, we also got a good deal right on avis's site for an internet special or hot deal something like that. Look for the deal icon and click there. We used the mouse saver code on the way down and the avis special on the way back so it pays to play around with the pricing. :)

Thanks so much for the quick reply. We are not planning on staying at the Port the night before, do you know if we can still take the shuttle service over to the ship? I didn't know if the shuttle was run by Avis or the hotel.

Thanks

Avis has an office in the Raddison near the port, and Hertz, National and Budget all have Cocoa Beach offices.

I know that they all have shuttles or reimburse cab rides to get you from the ship to their office, but I don't know for sure about dropping off the car and then getting to the ship.

You could drop off the rest of your group at the port, and have one person return the car. The worst case scenario would be to have to pay for a cab ride back to the port.

Just FYI -- it depends on how many are in your group, but... We are staying 2 days at WDW before the cruise and we were going to take the DCL bus from the airport to WDW and from WDW to the ship. Then we were going to rent a car for one day (we have a late flight on debarkation day) to sight-see get back to the airport.

We found out that we could rent a minvan for the whole week and park it at the port ($10/day) for what it was going to cost us to take the DCL bus twice and rent it for 1 day (there are 6 of us.)

Alamo has a $189/wk minivan special for the time we will be there. When we started looking, the cheapest we could find was $259/week. We kept checking the codes on mousesavers.com and it helped us find better rates!

Good luck!

We stayed at the MCO amerisuites the night before, drove to the port and dropped off our bags then went to the radisson returned the rental car (we had picked it up at MCO) and took Avis's free shuttle over to the port. On the way home we had a porter bring our bags to the shuttle pick up, went to the radisson/Avis ofice, got the new rental car and spent the morning at downtown disney before our 2:20 flight. They have a McDonalds there by the way DTD which made for a cheep lunch instead of the expensive airport food. DS loved the lego displays.
