Hi there I am plannig a trip to Florida at the end of October and am looking for a good but cheap car rental. Any ideas?
I've also heard you can either pick up your car at the terminal or take a shuttle to the car rental place.

Any tips would be great!

Thanks

C

Welcome!

I would go over to mousesavers and check out the codes there.

I usually book with Alamo and use the Costco ressie site.

I find it convenient to pick up the vehicle at the airport since it is just the two of us travelling. DD isn't very helpful when it comes to lugging luggage! :lmao:

We use Alamo as well. They usually have the lowest rental fee and we find it a lot more convenient since they're located at the airport terminal and their pickup/return process is really easy as well. Alamo also offers airmiles.

If you do go with Alamo --- we've found we get the lowest rates booking early but keep an eye on their website since they frequently offer $$'s off codes that you can apply to your rental. If you see a better deal you can always cancel your original booking. We prefer to book directly through Alamo because you then have the flexibility to change companies, car size, etc... without penalty (unlike some of the travel sites).

We never get the added insurances. For most people their regular car insurance will cover them pretty well (but you should definitely check with your insurance company first. We also have a credit card that covers the CDW component --- but I don't think it covers Third-party aspect.) There are also lots of gas stations near the airport so we always forgo their deal to return the car without filling up.

Whichever company you go with, if you reserve online make sure you print off the summary screens (with amounts, etc...) to ensure that you get the deal you signed up for.

Have a great time...

I just got an SUV for 3 days at alamo for 86$ US. Costco coupons combined with Alamo site....always plug in as many codes as you can find, sometimes different combo's of codes will lower the price.

We usually rent with Alamo - got an AP discount, but also get good rates booking ahead online. We take ME from the airport since it's FREE and you don't have to figure out where you're going and pay for gas and tolls. Then we get Alamo shuttle to pick us up at our resort to get our car, then shuttle returns us to our resort when finished.

Hi and welcome to the DIS! :wave2:

What are your dates for next month?.......we are going down Oct 26th and If you go into the Dollar website and then click on the "specials" link....then in the "promo" box type in kiss2 you can get :
1.economy car for $88.99 per week
2.compact for $98.99 per week
3.intermediate (which we have chosen) for $108.99 and it will go up from there you just have to take a look and see just what size you need.

I think these are great rates and we have used Dollar many times without a problem! Good luck and maybe we'll pass each other in the parks! :thumbsup2

last 4 years, that's the only company we use...

both my dh and I can drive, no extra costs per day

provided our own car insurance record (they make photocopy) and we never buy insurance

they have cars right at mco

they never ever have lineups unlike all other car rentals at airport (great when traveling with little kids)

we've never had any problems with them

they are always cheaper, and in fact, they will match any price for car rental at mco from other company.

Found out about them through Unofficial Guide...

I agree with the poster who said to take ME to your resort and then get Alamo/National to pick you up. They will shuttle you to your car and at the end the process is just reversed. Nice and simple like! Go to mousesavers.com and you will find all sorts of discount codes to try! :drive:
