car rental question drop off at different location

we want to pick a car up at Disney and return it a Ft Myers airport - is that possible from the Disney rental Car Care Center or do I need to go off site to do that? Would it be easier to just take magic express to the airport and rent it there???

You'll have to look online, I think Alamo and National are at the car care center. You can also pick up at the Dolphin if that's convenient to you. Just put in what pick up you want (do a search on their website, usually Alamo is cheaper, for the code for the car care center) and drop off at RSW airport.

Often there is a drop fee; sometimes it's very reasonable and sometimes it's a lot.

Either way, the answer is a definite YES you can pick up at Disney and drop off at another location. No need to waste your time going to the airport.

I've rented several times picking up at the airport and dropping off at the Dolphin with Alamo - sometimes I'd do that for a one day rental and often it was cheaper than a taxi!

You can totally do it. We do it all the time. The Car Care Center has a shuttle that will come to pick you up. Sometimes there is a fee to drop off in a different location than you pick up from, but it's never been excessive for us when we pick up at Disney and drop off at Fort Myers airport.

Well, unless for some reason the company doesn’t want a car from point A to end up at point B. If so you’ll see it as sold out, or no rentals available.

Last fall I wanted to pick up in Tampa and drop of in Orlando. I found I got a better rate if I set the pick up and drop of both for Tampa, completed the reservation and then went back to modify it to drop off at Orlando. YMMV
