I need to book a car rental for end of April beginning of May and prices are coming up at over 100 dollars a day all the way up to 200 a day. Could this be right? We will pick up at MCO and dropping off at Port Canaveral. I also see that there are a few cheaper options with companies I've never heard of such as NU, EZ, and Ace. Anyone have good experiences with those companies? TIA

Try Avis - it seems there are a limited number of companies that will do a one way rental to Port Canaveral. I plugged in April 30 - May 7 and was quoted $255 (including taxes and fees). Just keep trying and keep checking rental car rates fluctuate A LOT! I wouldn't choose to pre-pay unless there is a no fee/no penalty cancellation policy. Good luck.

Not sure but it sounds like you are doing a one-way before a cruise. If so, you may want to consider keeping the rental for length of stay. Quite often you will find that the the weekly round trip rate can be less expensive than a 1 or 2 day one-way rental. There is inexpensive off-site port parking available at Port Canaveral that you could use for the days of your cruise for $6-8/day (compared to port parking of $20/day)

If it is just you, or you and another person, you could always rent a u haul pick up truck or conversion van.

I know it's not as nice as a car, but it's $19.99 a day!
