I'm probably crazy but I just looked at the rates for a Budget rental from the airport, dropping off at Cocoa Beach (we're arriving one day early and staying at a DVC resort - yet to be decided). The rate quoted was very reasonable.

My question is if you can just use DCL transfers one-way? After our cruise, we'll be spending another week at WDW. I don't want to rent a car for the entire time. If you can only do DCL transfers one way, are you charged the full $50?

The reason I would want to rent a car is that I would like to get to the ship earlier rather than later...

I was told you could. You get charged $25 or 26 per person for the one-way transfer. But you have to call your TA or DCL to do it. We are using Budget for when we get down there the friday before our cruise and then renting another car the saturday after our cruise. Budget is very reasonable.

If you do the one way transfer, you shouldn't have to buy it in advance. You should just be able to arrange it while on the ship.

I am trying to figure this part out for our 4-day June cruise, too. Does anyone know if you can leave your car at WDW while you take the cruise? We are not doing the land/sea option through DCL, but rather made separate arrangements through the TA for WDW before the cruise. If we drive to WDW, can we leave the car for free at the Beach Club and then take a limo/transfer to Port Canaveral?

Thanks in advance for advice!

My family is doing one way transfers. We are renting a van from Budget the day before we leave, staying at Ron Jon's and returning it in the morning.
When we get back from the cruise, we are taking one way DCL transfers back to Orlando Airport. They charged each person in our party 30 dollars for this.

We've done the one way transfers. Rented a car the day before but then on the ship went to guest services and bought transfers for the way back to the airport. They put a small sticker on our KTTW cards and we were good to go.

You might try calling one of the several Town Car companies in the area. I not sure which one this board endorces. FL tours maybe. Depending on how many in your party, it can even be cheeper. Plus you don't have to make all the stops that Disney transfers has to make (they stop at all the resorts for everyone on board) Some even allow you a 30 minute grocery stop, so you can pick up supplies for your stay at Disney.

I dont know about this as they give a paper with your dates of the your resort stay on it, and if you dont have a valid one on your dash, they might tow you?
the parking is for resort guests and if you are not staying there, that might not work. YOu can always call the front desk and ask.

anyone else do this?

Thanks for the advice. I guess I will call the Beach Club and Town cars. Since there are six of us that definitely might be cheaper than $180 ($30x6) on a 1 way transfer.

Has anyone else left their car at WDW while on the cruise? Just wondering....

After checking the prices over at Budget, I would definitely say to try pricing out a one-way rental and comparing that to towncar prices. It was VERY reasonable!

I cancelled my reservation for hte town car we were goi nto hire and rented a car for the whole 8 days, I am keeping it and leaving it at port....it now is costing me under 100.00 for the rental car for the whole 8 days! even with parking at the ort its cheaper than a car service. Plus I like to be in control of htings myself, I hate depending on a driver to be there on time to pick me up!
