:confused3:confused3im looking to rent a car for 18 days.what do you guys think of getting lost of use from the rental place?my insurance will pay for it to be fixed but not the lost of use.credit card will pay for it if it was 15 days or less.so i dont know if i should get it.we been hearing of people we returned there car and get a bill in the mail because insurance fixed it but was down for a month and they had to pay for it when he didnt have it and while it was beeing fixed.it more then double for the the price of the car to rent it.so should i getg or no???

Statistically speaking your not much more likely to get into an accident on vacation then you are at home. I personally would never buy the car rental insurance unless I was renting outside the United States or Canada.

To me the risk is too low.

i dont want to get but a guy that we talked to and said he rented a car and got a scrath on the car and insurance paid for the scrath but did pay for the lost of use and got a bill in the mail for 30 days because they could not use it because waited to get it fixed.i dont want to get home and get a bill for 30 days his bill was over 1500 for the 30 days he didnt even have it..so i dont want to get a bill 30 days after wards..what do you think i should do?

also i forgit to say never rented a car so dont knmow what to do..and need to find a good deal june 18 to july 6..

30 days of loss of use? Looks like a ripoff where the company tried to profile the customer as easy to go after.

Actually better not to pay the bill and not sign any credit slip describing it. Dispute it with your credit card company if the company puts it through anyway. Let the company make the move to come after you.

If your credit card company does cover loss of use, find out who is responsible for obtaining documents notably proof that the cars were sold out and the damaged car out of service really made a difference. It does no good if the credit card company expects you to submit that document and the rental company refuses to give it to you. Better is if the credit card company requests the document directly from the rental company and the credit card company summarily rules the dispute in the customer's favor if he rental card company does not submit it.
