It is per day.
All you need to do is do a "mock" reservation and the answer is pretty clear and also, most agencies list the cost as per day.

I did do a real reservation at dollar and budget it didn't say anything about it....it wasn't an option to choose from...i don't think it was in the total the way it looks....I am going to go back and try again...I must be missing something!!

No actually, it is not on the site at Budget, my apologies. I think that is something they badger you with at the counter.

I am used to National, Hertz and Alamo, where the cost is listed and you have the option of chosing or not. Alamo lists it per day and national lists it when select it and before you opt to reserve.

Check with your own insurance company before you buy from the rental car company. You might be covered under your own policy.

Also, check with your credit card company.

Oh, I will try Hertz and National to get an idea. So far I am looking at dollar or budget.
I did check with my insurance company and they stated I am insured in an accident for the damages but not for the loss amount of revenue for the company to loss rental time, and that could really add up fast.
I will check with my credit card company...thanks so much.
Gosh, I don't like the idea of spending a lot on this loss damage waiver but I think it is worth it in the end should something happen. Has anyone else had that trouble? An accident?
Gosh, I am too worried!!!

Before you do that, see if your insurance company can give you a rider of loss of revenue for rental cars, that rider would cost you one heck of a lot less than what the rental companies charge.
I never take insurance, never have had an accident (knock on wood) and think the rates horrible. Beware of Budget and Dollar, they really push insurance, tell you all sorts of horror stories and sometimes out and out lie. Dollar also will hold a sizeable chunk on your credit card for a rental, forgot what the percentage is over the cost of a rental, but, it is there on the website.
Personally, I would try Avis, National, or Alamo also.

I am Also renting from alamo, and we are first time renters. My question or more like worry is will they try to scam me and change my estimate cost. I went through Alamo and it does list all options and ect. So Im going by their quote and thats what Im plannning on with my budget. We have insurance so im assuming we can use it. I dont want to get there and have out of the blue fees. My conformation tells me its a guarnteed rate , Im just nervous about it. you sounded like you were really familiar with rentals. They said what we needed was a valid drivers lic and major credit card. any tips you can give will be really appericated I hoping its just going to be in and out when we go to rent it ! Thanks for your help:Pinkbounc :bounce: Pixie-Girl

Learn these words: I don't want any insurance. That is all you have to say. Say this, over and over. All agencies try this. Just say NO to any insurance. Phrase it that way and you will be fine.

Thanks a bunch!! I will pratice those words for the next 12 days!!LOL I doubt they will wanna mess with me! Youv'e been a big help!! Pixie-Girl::yes::

Like I said before, don't be aggressive, be as nice as you can be and just be firm. Getting aggressive only spurs them on. :)
Besides, if you kill them with sweetness, they will feel better and you will also. :)

The 1st time we were renting a car I got confused when all the insurance business came up while getting a quote. I called our ins. agent and she said our own policy would cover us and then gave me a great piece of advice - Make a copy of your insurance policy and list your agent's and ins. co.'s phone # on it. IF they start to give you a spiel about needing ins. present the copy and tell them they can call to confirm your own coverages. We've only needed to present it to one co.(Budget) and they quickly checked off the decline ins. area and we were on our way.

WORD OF CAUTION ON USING YOUR OWN INSURANCE. YOUR OWN POLICY WILL NOT COVER ANY CHARGES THAT OCCUR DUE TO "DOWNTIME" IF THE CAR NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED.NOT ALL RENTAL AGREEMENTS CHARGE FOR THIS SO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO BEFORE YOU DECIDE "NOT" TO TAKE THEIR INSURANCE. ALSO, IF YOU BUY THE RENTAL INSURANCE & HAVE AN ACCIDENT, ONCE YOU TURN THE CAR IN, THE ACCIDENT GOES WITH IT. IF YOU USE YOUR OWN INSURANCE, YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE ACCIDENT ON IT. ALSO, EACH STATE HAS DIFFERENT LIMITS OF LIABILITY SO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ENOUGH TO COVER YOU. AS AN INSURANCE BROKER HERE IN CANADA, WE ALWAYS RECOMMEND THAT YOU PURCHASE THE RENTAL INSURANCE THAT WAY YOU WILL BE COVERED FOR ANYTHING & EVERYTHING. :earsgirl:
