Car Rental from SNA

DH has decided that we should rent a car while there 7/21-7/28. Hotwire shows about $27 a day. What do folks think? Is that the kind of rate other folks are getting? Any tips?

I only have 1 tip:

Call Alamo and ask for a quote with your dates using the BJs Wholesale Club discount. When you see how much it is, you may just want to get a BJ membership. It saved me almost $200 from DTD for a week in July, dropping off at Burbank.

Sorry, I should have elaborated. BJs is a wholesale club. They have a website at bjs.com and membership is $45. Alamo currently has a special going for Amex cardholders too that saves you 15%. I just tried my dates again using that promotion and now I am down to $109! LOL, I started at $386 and now I'm down to $109, same dates, same car, I LOVE IT!

Don't forget to check Mousesavers.com for discounts on rental cars. We got a good rate at Budget using the Walmart code from there. Also read their advice on rentals. Hope this helps.

If you have a Costco membership, they have codes on their website for several companies. I got a great deal with Alamo for 15.95 a day and then another 20.00 off that for my November trip using the Costco codes.
