Car rental experts,how would you do this?

We rented a premium car through priceline for our June trip.We have since added 4 days to the trip and want to xtend the rental(with Hertz).I don't want to just call up Hertz and ask for the extension because I'm assuming they'll know they have me over a barrel and I'll end up paying big $.Should i try to get a seperate reservation using codes etc and then later link the reservations????? TIA

Not sure that you can link reservations with Hertz. I guess it can't hurt to have the 2 reservations and then contact Hertz. The worst that would happen is they would make you bring the car back at the end of the first rental and re rent another car.

12/04 I had rental with Thrifty using a good code. The maximum days I could rent the car using the code was 10 days. I needed 14 days so I had to make 2 seperate ressies (7 days each). At the end of the first 7 days, I had to return the car and then pick up a new car. Before the holiday, I called Thrifty several times and tried to link the ressies but was unable. Even when I picked up the first rental I talked to the Thrifty manager and told him my situation. No go, had to return the first car at the end of 7 days.
