Does anyone have any car rental discounts or codes for around September/October? We're going for 18 days and all the quotes i'm getting are more than I budgeted for :sad2:

Can anyone recommend some good rental places and pass on some codes for discounts?

Last year we rented with USA Car Rentals, they were fine but pricey as we had to use them last minute as some idiot (aka me) left the credit cards at home :rotfl2: (It has taken almost one year for me to be able to laugh at that!) and I had to find somewhere that would let us have a car for very little credit (looooooooooooooooong story!)

Anyway, thanks for your help :goodvibes

That's brilliant Florence, thank you!

Eloise ~

I've used www.holidayautos.co.uk a few times and they can be quite competitive. There is also a sale on at the moment ~ So you might be lucky and get a bargain.

As Florence says 'Mousesavers' are great for codes :thumbsup2

We used a Walmart, one with Alamo, at Easter and hired a 7 seater mini van (MPV) for around £240 for three weeks :)

It included taxes but I bought an annual policy from www.insurance4carhire.com £103 :thumbsup2

At the time it was cheaper to rent the MPV than the smaller options.
I believe that this can often be the case so look around the site :goodvibes

I booked the car through the US Alamo site (Alamo.com) and just didn't add the extra insurance - which would have come to more than the car rental cost...!! ;)

I've used the Ins4carhire policy twice now - once with Dollar and, last time, with Alamo.

Both companies suggested I buy their ins, at the check in desk but, once they'd read through the annual policy, grudgingly agreed that it covered everything

The only other thing I paid for, at the desk, was a tank of petrol.
Yes, the cost was the same as at the pumps, but it wasn't until I filled up myself that I realised they'd sold me $65 worth of petrol when the car only held $35......................... :confused3 :lmao:

What a rip-off.

Yep but, unfortunately, I'm a bit of a soft touch, even my DD (22) says I'm hopeless at putting my foot down :rolleyes1

Anyone do classes in assertiveness.....?

We will only use Airnet.co.uk might not be cheapest but they use Dollar and never had a problem. Will never use Alamo again.
