Help! I am trying to rent a car for our anniversary trip to Colorado. Right now the best I can do with AAA or NEA discounts is $500 for our 5 day trip in June (Alamo, Hertz, Enterprise) That's $150 more than our airfare! Does anyone have any suggestions on discounts to use? We are going mid-week (T-Sat) which I know doesn't help...

Thanks for your help!

Are you renting at an airport? If you want to post which one and what your dates are maybe we can help find something better. If not, I'd suggest searching for coupon codes for that location specifically, if you're a BJs or Costco member see if their codes help at all.

And if all else fails, attempt some Priceline bids when it gets closer.

We'll be flying into Denver Int. Airport on Tuesday, June 8th in the morning and leaving on Saturday, June 12th in the afternoon. We are driving up into the mountains so it can't be a tiny car, something with some muscle (at least a 4 door or a CRV) would be best. We don't have Costco around here. :sad1:

Thanks for your help!

I will have a little more time later to look.

Right now I'm seeing Thrifty, a full size SUV, unlimited mileage for $446.05 using promo code AFDH.

$432.23 using code AX10 if you have an American Express card.

Dollar is $432.97 with Amex code AXMG or code FIT10.

Oooohhh...this one is good! Sign up for Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards. Print out your card. (Even if you're not flying them.) The you can use Corporate # SW2358 and the total is $319.78! :goodvibes

I'd book that one for now. It's cancellable if you find something better. Check again for codes good through June, many right now are expiring in May. And it won't hurt to try Priceline when it gets closer too, just be sure the PL total including fees is LESS than your cancellable reservation. If you win a great, low bid...just cancel the other reservation.

Hotwire is showing SUVs in the mid-$300 range. Don't hesitate to bid @ Hotwire or Priceline, you should do pretty well there.

Thanks everyone for the great information. For the PP who mentioned SW rapid rewards...I already have an account...can I still use the code? Which company was this for?

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Oh yes, if you already have a SW card you're golden, just be sure to have it with you! I wrote that in case you didn't have one, so you'd know you don't have to take a SW flight just to get the SW rewards card.

This is for Dollar (dollar.com).
