Car Rental at John Wayne Airport

I just booked a rental car from Hotwire.com for $16.54/ day for mid-size car. And that's not even the cheapest selection of car. I don't know if I am getting excited over nothing, but I just looked at Hotwire yesterday for a car and the lowest rate was $18.64. This compares to the taxi to and from the airport and that would have cost us $90.

National had a minivan for 249 for week plus 30 coupon under their last minute deals for next week - was thrilled to get it for 219 for a week!!

Yep, that is for our trip in 4 days. I can't believe it either. I was so excited when I found it I wanted to share it with everyone.

I have reserved a full size for 6 days from John Wayne for $119 total, taxes, fees, and all! I am renting through Thrifty. We are leaving Monday!

This may be too late for you if you're leaving tomorrow, but Alamo has a full-size for $107.46 total with taxes and fees, using Walmart code 428448 and coupon code ad3829mrb ($25 off weekly rental), using 6/23 through 6/29 as the dates. It'd be another $12 for Disney!!!

Okay, I reserved that one. YEAH! Now, one question. It says that you will be asked to show proof of coupon. How do I do that? Also, we have reserved from Thrifty which I hear is on the airport lot. Do you have to catch the shuttle for Alamo?

I think it says you "may" be asked to show the coupon??? In any case, it's an internet coupon, so you don't have to show a paper coupon -- if it shows up as applied on your reservation, you're good to go. I've used it and didn't get any questions. But if you are asked, just confirm it's an electronic coupon.

Alamo is also right at the airport -- no shuttle -- you check in downstairs, then just cross the walkway and follow the signs. It's under the parking structure, and a little claustrophobic, but very easy to get to.

The only issue I had with them is that they wanted to give me a PT Cruiser instead of just the little compact car I had reserved, and it took about 10 minutes for them to locate a car for me when I said I didn't want the PT Cruiser. (I know that's the kind of car you either love or hate, and I hate them.) In the end I got a Toyota Corolla, which was great

Sounds good. $12 is more money for Disney! I have to have at least a full size as we have three kids. Upgrade is fine, but I can't go lower than a full size with all these kids and their luggage. I don't think I would care for the PT Cruiser either!
