We've been looking at prices for cars for our December trip for months now :surfweb: but still haven't managed to book anything. We could really use some advice!

There are six adults on the trip. We want to rent from the day we leave Universal on the 4th to the day we come home on 18th. Ideally, we want one 6/7 seater type thing and one small car for when we split up. Not sure if there's any way to make this more cost effective, like are there any discounts available for renting two vehicles? We haven't been able to find any.

Also is there anywhere in particular we should be looking for comparisons/coupons and such? We haven't found much just by googling.

One last thing - the Alamo AP discount, are we right in thinking that we wouldn't be able to use that since we won't have upgraded to an annual pass until after we pick up a car i.e. you can't show it later or on return or anything?

Thanks for any help :goodvibes

See my thoughts in this thread from a few days ago regarding hiring with AP and direct with a US rental company. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2580213

IMO better renting with a UK supplier and know all your insurances are included (usually a better price also)

If you post type of cars you want (Economy & 7 seater?) collection/drop off locations and best price you have found I will let you know if I see any better.

Thanks Wayne...

We've only been looking via uk websites so far anyway so we'll just stay on that track. Those added costs look scary.

So far the best we've got is £365.59 for the 7-seater and £225.19 for the economy with Dollar. Alamo close behind with £384.56 & £215.28. Seems to have come down since we first started looking, which is good.

We really anything that's big enough to seat 6 adults (probably a 7-seater) and then whatever the cheapest is for the extra car - compact/economy whichever, only two of us will be using it. We're looking at pick up locations near Universal (the Dollar price above is for pick up at their International Drive location, which might be at Holiday Inn, I can't quite remember) and drop off at Orlando International.

Thanks again for your help!

I agree with Wayne, it is always a whole lot easier to get your car insurance sorted before you go - it can get too complicated and too messy, and you dont want anyone tryingf to take advantage and seling you stuff you dont need as its expensive enough. I have bnooked with carhire 3000 in the past and had no problems. Have a great trip.
