What is the difference between a 4x2 and a 4x4?

If I am not mistaken a 4x2 is two wheel drive ( usually front ) , 4x4 is four wheel drive. I think that's what it is, at least I'm sure of the second one.

Mskanga is correct except for the "(usually front)" part. That depends entirely upon the vehicle. Many 4X4 suvs are offered in a 4x2 format, but the smaller ones are usually front drivers in 4x2, but many mid-size and large (Explorer size and bigger) will be rear drive 4x2 format.
