This has never happened and I honestly dont know what I should do.. we sent the car payment out 2 weeks ago. It still hasn't been cashed.. Do I resend a check? I'd ask my parents but they are gone.. honestly I dont know what to do I must sound stupid.. this has never happened to us before.. :headache:

I would call the financing company and confirm receipt, and if they don't have record of it, cancel the first check and send a second after letting them know that it's coming.

I would call and see if your payment posted. There just may be a delay between the banks. If it has not been posted, I would send another check and stop pay the first one you sent.

Don't resend a check before knowing if the payment has been received. Why not just call the company?

I'd ask the finance company if they ever received the check, the USMail isn't infallible. If it hasn't been received, then if I were you I would stop payment on the missing check (which could cost additional $) and write a new check. If there are any possible late fees/etc, that $ might have to be added in to the new check as well.

agnes!

because I'm stupid and its never happened before.. I shall call today.. I hope there is a delay between banks or something.. another 4 days and it will be late.. I dont want to be late.. :headache:

I would too call to see if the payment has been received. If it has not then AND I had the money to possibly make two payments, I would make a second payment and I would NOT stop payment on the first one. It costs a ridiculous fee to stop payment! I would make that second payment and then if the first one ever came through, I am one payment ahead.

If you don't have the money to possibly make two payments, then you will have to suck it up and place the stop payment and pay the fees involved.

ETA: You may want to see if there is a way that you can make your payments on-line. Either from your bank or at the Finance Company's website. It saves you the stamp and you make sure that the payment is received on time.

See what the company says. Do they have an option to pay over the phone or online so you aren't late? You can stop payment on the other check.

If for some reason you do have to make another payment see if they accept online or telephone payments so you dont have to send it out again. Good luck! Hope it just crossed and its there.

I agree, call the finance company and have them look for your check. A few months ago, I noticed a payment on my car finance loan that I did not make. I called the finance company and it turned out that someone had mailed in their payment on an account similar to mine and it got posted to my account.

I always make my payments online and after that experience, I am glad that I do it this way. The person that I spoke with said that this sort of thing happens fairly often with mail in payments and they were quite surprised that I called them right away.

Did you find anything out?

I wouldn't do another check by mail if you don't have to since it is so close to the due date.

Just the other day, I saw a postal worker emptying out an on-the-sidewalk mailbox. It was windy and one of the pieces blew away. That's the first time that I saw something like that (and honestly, I never thought about it before). Calling to see if it has, at least, been received is your best bet.

Sounds like it might be time to do some on-line bill paying!
