Car Park at Gatwick

We are staying at the La Meridian hotel which includes parking whilst we are on holiday.

Just wondered, as the car is in the long stay car park, can we go back to the car the day we depart to Orlando? Reason I ask, the overnight bag for the hotel I would like to put in the boot of our car. Can we go back to our car?

Hmmm ... thanks for the suggestion. I kept wondering how we could make use of the twilight check in when we need to keep our overnight stuff with us for the hotel !

If you're using the on-airport long stay you could get the courtesy bus from the airport terminal to the car park and back but I'd allow an hour for it to be on the safe side. As long as your car didn't move out of the car park I can't see why there would be a problem.

If you're parking off-airport at Courtlands or somewhere like that the time taken would make it impractical and anyway I seem to remember that they valet park your car so you wouldn't have access to it.

You really need to check which car park you will be in to see whether this is practical.

Yes you can go back to your car, but you can't move it.

I rang the hotel yesterday and they said that we could not go back to the car with a bag at all. You can not go back to the car until after your holiday.

When did you stay with La Meridian - have they changed the rules?

How would anyone know if you went back to your car. In Parking Express they don't check anyone getting on or off the bus.

If you stayed at the Hilton are you allowed to park your car overnight and then take it to the long stay ?

DisneyBB- You're right about returning to your car at Parking Express, but some of the off airport places valet park your car so you would not be able to get access to it without getting them to fetch it for you which would incur a charge.

There is no overnight parking at the Hilton. You can park outside while you check in and that's all. There is a long stay next door (an NCP I think) but if you book a package through ABC (best value last time I checked) you will get a voucher for Parking Express. Or at least we did our last few trips - everything is subject to change!

MKLOVER - It's a while since we stayed at La Meridien I must admit so things may well have changed but at that time we were given a voucher for the North Terminal NCP which meant driving a short distance to the car park them taking a courtesy coach back the the airport. With that system there is no way anyone can stop you going back to your car, so I'm wondering where you car will actually be parked if you can't get access to it. Off airport perhaps? I would advise you to check this out so that you know how much time to allow for the process of dropping off your car.

Sorry, thought you were talking about the long stay onsite at gatwick airport. I stayed in the Hilton, so you self park.
